Villa Ma'Rasai

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this boutique hotel. Away from the bustle of Ternate town, it sits at the foothills of Mount Gamalama with stunning views across to Tidore Island. The staff were warm and welcoming, sharing local recommendations and even preparing traditional Nasi Kuning for breakfast. We also enjoyed dining at the hotel — the fresh whole fish, beautifully cooked with local spices. The property is thoughtfully decorated with East Indonesian and colonial aesthetic, giving it a unique sense of character and place. Surrounded by birdsong and the sounds of nature, it felt like a peaceful retreat in the bush. And, if you are lucky, in the evening you may spot fire flies in the forest! The call to prayer from nearby mosques can be heard each morning. We found it to be a lovely part of the local culture and community, adding to the authenticity of the experience. A special place with genuine hospitality, and somewhere we would happily return to on our next visit to Ternate.

Ik kreeg een prachtige grote kamer met zicht op zee en de vulkaan ! Lekker ontbijt met vers fruit. Goed en mooi gelegen hotel voor tussen vluchten.

The property is very nice. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and spacious. And the people working there are lovely and very helpful. For example I knew I was going to leave very early the next morning so I asked if they could prepare my breakfast as take away and they did. I also really appreciate that they took into account my request for a quiet room. I travel a lot and many places don't read my booking comment and/or don't try to accomodate. But for both my stays at Ma'Rasai, they took it into account. Thank you!

Large, comfortable room with AC and en-suite. The room was clean and the staff super helpful, I eat in the restaurant and the food was good, though you need to order early.
