Sibayak Guesthouse

Walking in off the ferry, the passageway to reception stank of sewage. The room had the door handle hanging off and wasn’t clean. The bathroom was dirty and mouldy, the sink was mouldy and was hanging off the wall and the drain pipe would fall out all the time and water pour everywhere. The whole room and bathroom stank of sewage. We’ve roughed it in some places but us and the other guests who checked in at the same time but did not stay. It would have been just about bearable if we felt welcome but we weren’t even acknowledged by the staff, the atmosphere felt uncomfortable. We didn’t bother complaining, we just left. There are plenty of other places in TukTuk that are much cleaner, friendlier and way better value for money.

The way between reception/ main road and a rooms is terrible it is honestly like in horror movie- everything crashed and looks so scary- but at least the room and places where are you staying are nice just the way is creepy

The room and the bathroom were dirty and there is only one socket for charging, but they can provide an extender at the reception. The whole place except the lobby was very neglected. We stayed in the cheapest room, but still a bit of cleaniness would have been nice.

Nice rooms with lake view. We also used the common area a lot. Hot water was definitely a plus!

The staff isn’t welcoming at all. To be fair they are always available and they respond to queries, but they are mostly silent and don’t like to interact with guests. Also, the access to the rooms is a bit weird, with about 50 steps through a complex that seem still under construction.

Location was ok, close by some restaurants. Balcony was nice and had a decent view of the Lake. Restaurant seemed nice, though we didn't eat there. Staff were nice enough just seemed tired.

You get what you pay for. Room had no fan or AC. No mosquito net. Furniture was falling apart, and room was dingey. It's not the cleanest place, but not the dirtiest either.

Great location! The lake is just in front of rooms for a swim morning and afternoon. We rented motorbikes from the hotel to go round Samosir island.

The person running the place hardly looked up from his phone when talking to us. Bed are very uncomfortable and rooms and bathrooms could be cleaner.

Can't really complain because price goes with property. Sheets old.bathroom aged.But again you pay for what you get

Ok to be honest I didn't like the stairs going down. It's scary and still not properly constructed. Toilet had two big cockroach. We kill it with shampoo. Towel that we got was already eaten by rat.... the two big bed is like my grandma house.. need to improve the cleanliness. At night the cat and dog fight... This hotel had hot water to shower. I stayed one night.
