Guest House Miei - Vacation STAY 87547v

The location is in a small village, it's easy to get to from the main road (assuming you have a car). It's a cozy wood cabin with a kitchenette. Beds are upstairs. Downstairs is the bathroom, shower, kitchen and a table and chairs. The wifi is very fast.

I would have preferred if the bed had actual sheets - it's a bit hard to tell if what is on the beds ever gets washed.

It was autumn and really cold to us. The kitchen and bathroom was unheated, really hard to operate in them (imagine cooking and hopping to keep warm).

All in all I really liked it, nothing to criticize!

Lovely traditional Japan house in a quiet village. You can find everything you need in the house Google map will guide you to the house correctly. Can park the bike in front of the house.

the closest convenience shop is 3km away.

Quiet and beautiful location, in small village next to Lake Biwa

The kitchen area was covered in festering food stains, dried noodles, a used napkin, used towel, dirty sink, dirty fridge (with someone else's "egg" left inside). Dirty shower, someone else's used towels left hanging behind the door. Used bed sheets and pillows that smelt like perfume and greasy hair, and sticky stains on the floors, upstairs and down. I wiped up a spill of what I *think* was shampoo from under the dining table. It's the only place we have ever cut and run due to being unwilling (unable, honestly) to cook our food, shower comfortably, or even get undressed to sleep. (We slept in our clothes, with towels over the dirty pillows).

Future people looking to book should be aware that I'm not just talking about a little bit of wear and tear, but rather, the place is not cleaned between guests AT ALL. It's a shame because its quite a cute, compact, house, that would, if it was clean, be great. Unfortunately, it's not up to what should be expected for basic hygiene at all and I don't think it's been cleaned in weeks! There is no gentle way of saying that this place is really putrid!

The host was so kind, took us for dinner and was super friendly and warm hearted. 😍 the room was quiet and clean, close to beautiful temples and nature.

Pretty far away from the train station, but the host picked us with his car wherever we needed.

Very local and authentic small house. Has everything you need to prepare a simple meal, just keep in mind the closest convenience store is around 2km. Can wash clothes, soap is provided. I met the owner when I got out, he seems like a nice person.

The owner is not to blame here, but because my booking didn't succeed when I booked and only realised it when I arrived at the place, I quickly booked this place last minute. It was already 7PM. I didn't have any information other than an emailaddress and a phone number (which I was unable to call with my data only sim). So I was lucky the next door ryokan guests helped me contact the owner and I could enter the place. Long story short: book in time and you will be fine 😊. Another thing is the double bed has had it's best days, luckily there are 3 beds on the top floor, so I used another one. .
