The place is clean, the amenities work well, and the rooms are well ventilated. The staff are friendly, especially Berna, who is very helpful and lovely. At check-in, they welcome every guest with a welcome drink and a hot towel, which is something I have usually only seen in hotels. In addition, every Monday they offer a free buffet dinner for guests, which is a very nice touch. I have stayed in many hostels, and it is rare to see something like this. The location is also decent, as it is near the marine sanctuary. Overall, the place is well organized and offers a very good experience.

They have several Wi-Fi networks, but all of them are bad. Unfortunately, the connection is unstable and disconnects frequently. This is more of a personal preference, but I did not really like the vibe of this guesthouse. Yes, it is very vibrant and lively, but personally, it was not my type of atmosphere. The place is filled mostly with Western tourists, so it does not really feel like you are in the Philippines. I personally prefer places that feel more authentic and offer a stronger local experience. However, if you want to mingle with other travelers, party, socialize, and enjoy a lively atmosphere, then this place is excellent for that. On the other hand, if you are looking for a quiet and tranquil place, I would not recommend this hostel or the area in general, as it is one of the more touristy parts of the island. That said, this is ultimately a matter of personal preference.

Very nice private room and bathroom and lovely staff. We don’t ride scooters and we found the location perfect - very close to a lovely beach, walking distance (or short tuktuk) to San Juan, and the Tagbalayon staff organised a great tuktuk tour for us at a very reasonable price which allowed us to see the rest of the island.

Room was so spacious! There’s also a connecting area for the bathrooms/showers for each set of dorm rooms. The upstairs lounge area is super nice and the free dinner/karaoke nights is a huge highlight! I would definitely recommend staying for that ( I think they host it once a week). All the staff are amazing and super helpful with everything.
