Quiet, peaceful, tranquil.

There was an issue between management and us re my younger son being declared as a child. We input my younger boys age as 16 and the property management said that their policy re over 12 as an adult. The reception lady called the owner and he ok’d my son at no additional cost. To us, this was not doing us any favors as we correctly declared my son’s age. We arrived around 4:30pm as we’d been shark diving on the South Coast earlier and got a bit delayed. So we asked for a late checkout. This led to an uncomfortable conversation between my wife and probably the owner as the reception lady had escalated the issue. The owner quoted about R1,700 for a late checkout, which we thought was highly unfair. When we questioned the rate he said that he had already done us a favor by not charging my son at adult rate. What really bothered me was that he called my wife a “cheat” and said that we were taking advantage The owner eventually conceded to check with booking.com on the child age declaration and apologized the next morning to me. The issue here is that the start of what was supposed to be a relaxing peaceful night stay started off on a negative note with the owner being rude because of his perceptions or lack of trust in his guests ! Also, Double beds were comfortable. Single beds were not comfortable. I noticed a board placed under some of the mattresses of the single beds. Whilst I understand that these are antique beds - they still need to maintain some comfort.

Breakfast is not applicable, it was self catering. The house was spotless and the decor was interesting, beautifully done, with each room different. The gardens were great, and walking round the farm interesting and then driving to the view point of the Oribi Gorge was amazing. So a successful trip all round.

Breakfast n/a. Beautifully clean, beautifully and tastefully furnished. Lovely views and walks. Generally great.

When we came to the room from our activities , the bathroom floor was wet and very slippery from humid.
