There is absolutely nothing to dislike when staying at the Stoep!

The bath and shower were nice and the bathroom suite was clean. Nice view of Torbay. No parking issues. Quiet location. That was all great.

I don't understand how the room has such a high rating. It looks like the Chauffeurs Cottage reviews are mixed in with the room reviews. But anyway, there are some negative reviews if you look. I wish I had. Firstly the room was really small and dark and quite depressing. The room was so dimly lit that my wife struggled to read her book or see to get ready to go out. That was with both the main light and lamp on. The bathroom was also poorly lit. There was little room to put anything away so we practically had to live out of our bags. There was a small "fridge" next to the bed in place of a bedside table. It did not cool our breakfast food properly and a shelf was missing, so again, hardly any storage room. There were 4 coat hangers on a rail. There was a small table for the breakfast stuff which we had to put our bags on. The room is not big enough for chairs so you have to sit on the bed to watch the faulty TV. I don't mind viewing tv from a bed but there was a metal rail headboard which was really uncomfortable and the bed was also really uncomfortable. We didn't sleep and my wife had neck ache for days. Plus it creaked everytime you made even a slight movement! We left a day early because we couldn't cope with it anymore. It was so uncomfortable and claustrophobic and messy due to the lack of storage. We were so tired. Also, no milk was provided and there was no free WiFi! Both advertised in the information. Plus, the photos were misleading. You get a small glimpse of the trains, nothing like the photos imply. My wife picked the room for the trains view for me. The host did say to let her know if we needed anything on the one, brief occasion we saw her, but I didn't feel like asking for a complete overhaul 😏 It wasn't an expensive room but still, you expect a certain standard. So dissapointing. Not the relaxing break we wanted.

Lovely pretty view easy parking

Nothing really, as the weather was good spent time at the property outside which was beautiful. Possibly a little small if the weather not good, no room for sofa

Leaving

Accommodation was very clean and location was good. It was close to the South West Coast path and easy to drive to nearby attractions. The view over the bay was lovely. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good.

The room was rather small.
