Very conveniently placed place close to the port. The rooms were very comfortable and the host helped me a lot. The accomodation also runs a nice Izakaya where you can go. Would like to come again!

Great location. Meticulously clean. Comfortable bed. Simple breakfast provided. It's a shared house with the host and other travellers. Don't expect hotel services. Instead, respect, behave and communicate. The host is awesome if you follow her rules, which are reasonable.

"Fawlty Towers Shodoshima style"

3.0

Very basic, clean. There's Chinese food, if you don't mind waiting 2 hours for the food, and 2 hours for the bill, and trusting the prices on the menu. The owner says she's hardworking and takes care of the property. She allowed me to store my bicycle in the inner courtyard. If you're tolerant of weird mental issues, you could stay here.

10PM curfew. You don't get a key and everything is locked after 10. Paper thin walls and very loud guests who talk late into the night. Communication needs to improve. I asked if it's okay to have my suitcase delivered and picked up by Kuro Nekko Yamato services BEFORE reserving. She agreed. Before checking out, I asked her what time should I tell the service to come pick up the suitcase. Usually, the B&B owners call to schedule the best time for them, but since the owner said she doesn't speak Japanese well, I offered to do this. She got really angry, saying she's too busy, that she can't do it. Later she recanted and said it's okay, there was a lot of moaning and groaning, involving another Japanese guest to have her "translate" for me. I didn't appreciate the tone of voice and attitude, so I brought my suitcase to another hotel where I usually stay (which was fully booked at this time, unfortunately for me) and they mailed it in 5 minutes. Bad-mouthing guests: I didn't appreciate how every time a guest, especially a woman left to go up to her room, her dirty laundry was immediately aired for the entertainment of the owner and other guests. Also, receiving a package with a thank you note from a former guest is not poison just because the guest is from Taiwan. Should I consider the attitude at check out a consequence of my being American? Treating guests as an inconvenience: I realize that it's a difficult task for a woman to run this type of business and that it gets busy during holidays. However, complaining that you have "too many guests" and moaning about it doesn't make people feel welcome and comfortable. I felt just like my suitcase: an unwanted inconvenience that she needed to tolerate because it paid money.
