Amban Beach House

Lovely clean rooms right on the beach. Very quiet and relaxing. The staff are super helpful and will organise anything for you. The food in the place is good and there's a couple of different places along the beach to go. We surfed every day on nice clean waves with no one else around, they have stuff to hire.

Would be good to have mosquito nets over the beds in the rooms.

Everything was perfect, nice place to come and unwind. If you come from the mountains or the city it is nice to relax here at the beach. Healthy food, very helpful staff and owners. There are only a couple of small shops in the Amban area but the owners were super kind to give me a ride to the city of Manokwari where there is a mall and even a cinema. Also many places to eat in town. I had a really good time here, the owners go the extra mile to make you feel at home.

On some evenings the neighbour Cafe Shy has wedding or birthday parties and the music is very loud with heavy bass. Sandflies can be annoying so bring plenty of repellent. Also alcohol is illegal but still many people drink illegally. Safety at night can be an issue in certain areas. Also consider malaria and other tropical deseases, I brought my own mosquito net, they are not provided in the rooms, but I am shure you could buy one in town.

The amban beach house is one of these rare places that are not only really nice, but also has personality and spirit, for the owners who live there and the staff are incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. The food (vegetarian for me) was amongst the best that i was served in indonesia, fair pricing and certainly cooked with love. I extended my short visit to manokwari and stayed allmost two weeks in the end. If you are interested in traveling papua, the two hosts Mar and Theo are very experienced in all kind of adventures and are happy to help you out with their travel agency. Nice beach side accommodation, good food and services. Staff was very nice, they prepared the room so quick after our last minute booking and Teo helped us to arrange a quick visit around Manokwari. Many options for.drink, good juices. Good dinner at a very reasonable price. Big and clean room with all you need, just no hot water, but you don't need it there. The common dinnig area is very nice.

There is a cafe with karaoke just beside. Our stay was on saturday night and it was like being inside the cafe. Just be aware if you don't like to listen people chanting untill 2am if you stay there on weekend.

Wonderful property on the beach of the Pacific Ocean with very friendly staff and very distinguished and well educated owners. They are ready to help you with whatever you want.

Do not get scared about the modest district you will have to pass through to reach the property. People there are very friendly, serviceable and nice. You are perfectly safe everywhere there, with nothing to worry about!
