Penzion pod Oblazom

Location, biliar table, nice staff, comfortable bed

Exceptional breakfast. The apartment was a series of large rooms. Big bedroom with a balcony and comfortable bed. A very large kitchenette with lounge room. A separate bathroom and toilet. Did I say a great breakfast.

Absolutely nothing to dislike.

The café/bar next door. The room with the double bed was okay, although a bit small. Breakfast was good, and served by friendly ladies.

The reception was bad. The girl of the café next door gave us the keys. She could only tell us about breakfast times. We were not able to communicate with her. She was friendly but only spoke Slovak. There was nobody else to ask questions, she gave us a phone number of the owner, but she doubted if he spoke any other language. The matrass was covered by a fitted sheet that didn't fit. It was too small, the matrass was sticking out at the sides, and there was nothing underneath. So this is unhygienic if you ask me. We had hired a so called apartment, that means 2 rooms. One room without curtains. One easy chair and a kitchen chair. 6 beds altogether. The bathroom was too small. On the website I read that we could use a kettle, a microwave and a fridge. At first I couldn't find them. As there was a function going on, we could not reach these facilities. And for us, making tea, carrying it up two floors, and what about the washing up, impossible in the small wash basin in the tiny bathroom. Maybe it was all lack of communication.

Accomodation, which was situated centrally in town, was composed of a bedroom, living room and bathroom. There was a possiblity to order a breakfast in a decent price (including eggs, ham, cheese, jam, yoghurt, fresh tomatoes and pepper and some buns).

Good water pressure in the shower :) Clean room.

There is no proper reception desk, so any issues need to go throught email or phone calls. After arrival we've been informed that there is no way to pay with a card, which made me a lost of some extra money as I had just virtual card, which didn't work in ATM. Other reviews clearly say that there is no other way of payment than cash since at least August 2022, so it should be stated also in booking.com offer. Please bear in mind that ONLY CASH is accepted in this penzion. Breakfast is very good. Lady from the kitchen very nice, but the problem is that as per information received just after arrival it's served from 8am. Finally, we had been served earlier (as we needed to leave at 7:30), but I had not sleep well due to uncertainity of having breakfast on time. Everyone should be informed during booking process, that breakfast is served from 8am, as I believe this might be too late for many guests.
