Summerland Residence

Firstly, the host was extremely accommodating. Upon booking, he offered to arrange a safari for us which saved us doing it ourselves. Then once we'd arrived he gave us recommendations for what to do in the area, such as the elephant feeding sanctuary which was so cool. He also offered to cook us dinner in the evenings which was absolutely incredible, a traditional Sri Lankan curry and a chinese dish. Breakfast was brought to us every morning at the time we requested, and once again was lovely with a range of fruits, coconut rottis, coconut sambol, other Sri Lankan breakfast items, and fresh fruit juice. The service from him was honestly the best i've have had anywhere i've been. The property was also very nice, a great sized pool to cool off in after a long day in the heat. The room was air conditioned, had comfortable beds, and a nice bathroom and shower. Attached was also a living room/kitchen where we could chill and make ourselves tea or coffee at anytime, along with a fridge to keep our water cold. I cannot fault anything with our stay, we had an amazing time. Would highly recommend if coming to Udawalawa.

This was one of the best homestay experiences for its low price that we've had in Sri Lanka. The affordable price matched with the big spacious room, AC, kitchen area and pool, not to mention the perfect location to the national park and the kindest host we've EVER encountered, made this stay unforgettable. My friend and I coined the host's name, Mr. Jolly, as he was more than accommodating; he treated us as family. Huge home-cooked authentic meals at a lower price than any restaurant nearby, breakfast even included in your stay price. What more could you want? He even drove me on the back of his scooter to the ATM and organised a car drop off to our next destination on our last day. Will be recommending this to everyone and anyone travelling to Sri Lanka as a must-stay location.

The house is situated 5 minutes from Udawalawe National Park, and 2 minutes walk from the main road. Spotless place, marble flooring, large lounge with sofas and tables, large rooms, a/c, hot shower, outside patio front and back. Tables and chairs to chill out in the evening. Host dinner was served outside our room in a confy, private patio garden. Food was plenty, cheap and delicious. Indika (host) did everything possible to accommodate us, like shop runs for drinks and water, arrange a valuable and safe car to Ella, and more. Please take the advice, it's not only as nice as it looks, it's more!!

The owner was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed rich and tasty breakfast. Our room was clean and spacious, including small kitchen.
