Great place to stay in Montanita, very quiet but just a few minutes walking from the restaurants, store, and beach. The owner gave us good advices about the things to do and was very friendly. We extended our stay to a week because we were feeling great ! the kitchen is small but it was sufficient for us to cook everything we wanted.

The hostal is right on the main road with a lot of trafic during the day. We couldn't really enfoy the common area upstair because of the noise. It's too bad because it's lovely !

Mafer was an amazing host, so welcoming and helpful. I had a room without AC at first and had some trouble with the heat, so Mafer got me an extra fan, then moved me to another room with AC the next day. I also had a nasty bite on my toe which rendered me pretty helpless with walking and she went out of her way to help me to the pharmacy, offered to bring me some food and generally took care of me! The location is on the main road, 5 minutes from the bus station and 5 minutes from the beach. The wifi worked perfectly. The room(s) were big enough with decent bathrooms and showers. The place was clean and the terrace upstairs is a great area to relax in the hammock and watch the world go by.

Even if nobody spoke english, owner tryied to be very helpfull, I appreciate it. My first impression was not great, in Tena or Banos I could have better for lower price. That changed when I had a chance to see some other hostels in Montanita. This one is still one of better. Montanita is not Banos. Because I stayed 5 nights, there was a nice surprice, my price included a tour to Salango island, it was realy nice.

Many small things vere always missing, refilled everytime I asked for, but it was often something and I did not have a mood to ask all the time. It is a small thing. What I really dislike was a noise. Is not fair to judge a single hostel in Noisy Hell of Montanita, nobody can escape, nowhere. There are some really noisy discotheques in close vicinity, hard to sleep. If you want to sleep in Montanita, your only chance is a Punta - there is a disco only until 10pm. All other places you hear disco nonstop all night.

This was a fantastic hostel run by a lovely family that made me feel very welcome indeed. The room was large, clean and comfortable, and the whole property is very relaxing with great communal areas. Only a very short walk to the centre of Montanita, but far enough to feel peaceful and relaxed . Would highly recommend this place :)
