"Amazing room with a view"

9.0

Truly amazing view from the room. You can have a rest and enjoy it on your private terrace ! The 15min walk to Tirta Gangga is so nice, allowing you to go there early in the morning and avoid the crowd. Nice warung, choices for breakfast!

Pillows a little hard The fan was not very useful, but the temperature was not so hot so it was OK

The most amazing view I have ever seen. A wonderful place if you want silence, peace and relaxation. The hosts are super nice, we really liked them. They also operate a restaurant next to the accommodation, so you can just walk out of your room and enjoy the most beautiful view during your breakfast/lunch/dinner. The food is also excellent. It was difficult for us to come from this accommodation.

Some people wrote that the bathroom is not equipped enough. We think it was fine, not very modern, but that didn't bother us. There is no hot water, rather only lukewarm, but you could get used to that. It was pleasant in the heat.

"Incredible Views, lovely and quiet, great service and food! 15 mins walk to the Water Palace."

10.0

INCREDIBLE views of the mountains and rice fields from your bedroom patio! 5 very quiet rooms as the homestay is about 5 minutes off the main road down a rough track. This is what Bali used to be like 25 years ago. Lovely! It is not hard to find at all (unlike what some of the reviews said) and is just a very short 5 minutes to the main road leading to Amed. The food in the restuarant was surprisingly good and all home made! Very calm and quiet place and the owner speaks good English. If you dont fancy eating in, there is a very good restaurant about 6-7 minutes away by car called "Le Grande". Better than the tourist one across the road with great choice of food and drinks, lovely views, swimming pools and a surprising short free Balinese dance included! (discretely perfomed in a corner so if its not your thing it does not interupt the meal). AMAZING walk down to the stunning Water Palace - about 15 minutes through a private gate, past farms, and gorgeous rice terraces. What an adventure for our 10 year old twins! A little steep on the way back but thats half the fun. Great palce to come back to and the views are amazing! Highly recommened. He can also arrange an onsite "medical massage" on your patio from an increidble 80 year old local man with 60 years of experience. Little bit of yoga stretching included at the end. (ladies please note that the massage is done with just your underwear as he needs to access lymph areas and other pressure points). Very professional.

The bathroooms need updating and improving (such as a shelf for your toiletries, adjustable shower head) which the owner knows about and has plans to do, but this is reflected in the very good price. Toilet paper is very thin and rooms could benefit from a bedside table on both sides and a full length mirror. This is very typical of many chepaer places like this in Bali and should not in any way detract you from staying here. As I said this is reflected in the very low price for this lovely homestay!

Amazing pancakes.

Size of the breakfast is ridiculously small, and it's worth noting that they do charge an additional tax that isn't mentioned upfront.

"Incredible views, well-meaning host, good food, very basic accommodation"

5.0

The view is unbeatable - lush valley and distant mountains. Surrounded by jungle and all the exotic sounds it brings. The gardens at the homestay are also beautiful. The food was good. You really feel you're in nature. Host was helpful and friendly. It's a very cheap homestay so in that sense it's good value for money. Walking distance through the forest down to Tirta Gangga Water Palace.

The wall fan air flow did not reach the bed. The bed is too heavy to move. Even if you turn upside-down in bed you can't get any air. It was too hot to sleep (and I'm used to hot countries). In the end I had to detach the fan from the wall, but even then the mosquito nets were so thick they prevented air reaching the bed. I moved the mosquito netting aside, but then a cockroach came into the bed. There were also a lot of cockroaches in the bathroom. I can tolerate a few cockroaches - they are inevitable in hot countries - but there were too many for me to feel relaxed. Also terrible drain smell in the bathroom. The host was friendly and had to meet me on the main road and help me drag my luggage through the forest because the access road was under maintenance. This was fine expect that he took lots of phone calls while walking and every time he answered the phone he stopped walking. So it took forever to get to my room (and I urgently needed the bathroom, which I did explain). After that he was nowhere to be seen and I needed info about how to walk down to the water palace. I found the exit gate on my own but it was padlocked, so I had to look for someone to unlock it. Lunch was tasty but even the girl who prepared it apologised for taking so long. In the end I checked out early and paid for my whole stay anyway. It's fine if you are looking for very basic accommodation, but it was too basic for my taste. I at least need somewhere I can get some sleep.
