Had a racist moment with the lady at The Jewels store inside the Big hole. Such a rude white lady! No wifi connection at all!

The location was amazing, within the open air mining museum of Kimberley. The Big Hole and museum itself is on your doorstep. After closing hours you can still browse the little streets. The accommodation itself is a nice reflection of the old days. Parking is free at the property and safely within the museum grounds.

Unfortunately there was very limited running water during our stay due to a water shortage problem. There is water on demand from a Jojo tank, but definitely not suitable for drinking and we didn't use it for showering. We were very kindly provided with a 10 liter bottle of drinking water upon arrival. Be aware that on a Sunday the onsite restaurant closes at 3 pm. We didn't find any restaurants within walking distance. Fortunately the nearby fish and chips restaurant did deliveries and was very good.

It was nice staying in the “old town” and window browsing through all the shops with antique fare to Occidental bar after doing the Big Hole visitor centre tour. We arrived after the check in office closed, and the keys were with the gate security. Roofed parking was safe. Room 1 was large and comfortable.

WiFi was very poor.

Just a wonderful experience to stay in such an historic place. Something you don't often find. Really a special night in the place.

The rooms had character and were very big and comfortable. Great location, staying in die old town was an experience! Loved walking through after having dinner. Would definitely recommend

There was a function at the hole. The music was loud, but you could hardly hear it from inside the room. Aircon was enough to cancel out the noise

Absolutely loved staying here. We got such a surprise that we were actually staying right on the same property as The Big Hole. We loved that we were a part of the whole atmosphere and experience. Loved that we could open the door and be a part of what it could have felt like to be living back in those times and walk those mining streets and feel the atmosphere of an old mining town. The whole place completely outdid our expectations and we were very very happy with our stay.

Most of the shops in this mining village were closed. Maybe because it was a Sunday but it would have been nicer if everything was open and felt a bit more alive. We were the only ones staying here, so not sure if we were just early holidaymakers. So felt a bit like a desserted mining town, guess that added to the atmosphere, but would have been nice to go into all the shops. Getting in touch with someone was absolutely awful!! No phone number to call up and talk about our delay in check-in, or check about any address issues, anything. That was honestly the worst communication we ever had with a place, but once there we were ok. But any hassles before you get there, and there is absolutely no way of contacting anyone with any proper working call line, it was incredibly frustrating, and poor communication service.

Great place for a quick stopover, spacious room and enough space to move around even though there are 4 sleeping space (1 Dbl bed and 2 Sngl beds) in the room. Close proximity to Kimberly gate and shops.

The proximity to the Big hole was great. When you have done a full days driving just to get there, its great to not have to get in the car again to explore the open air museum.

We were there on a Sunday and the Bar/Grill closed at 3pm so we had to go out somewhere else for dinner.
