Realy nice room and staf vas realy helpful.

There was some noise from reconstruction, but they waited until we get up and it will be finished soon.

The couple who owns the place is lovely and mindful. Nothing they did not took care of! They served delicious tea and when you are brave enough you can even get a bicycle. During my stay there was still a lot of renonation work going on. I bet the place looks fantastic once they are done!

Serene place, ideal for 3-4 nights to explore the holy sights

Breakfast was great - fresh fruit, toast and eggs on their beautiful balcony. Home was very clean and tidy. Not noisy. Good working aircon. They provided mosquito nets as one of us got bitten. Hosts were very attentive - helping us organise bike hire, use their fridge and kitchen facilities.

It was a padlock on the door, didn't feel very safe at night locking the door from the inside, with only one bit at the top. Needs to be fixed.

Yellow Birds is a simple, clean, no-frills guesthouse in a quiet neighborhood that is owned by a very nice family. (Their young son collects coins from around the world & is delighted when guests add to it.) Our room was one of the smaller ones, upstairs in the back, with a fan and a/c, a small table and chairs, and 2 beds with good foam mattresses. Our room had a 'wet bathroom' attached. It was fine for us but it's good to know as they aren't to everyone's taste. There were a couple of power cuts but they did not long. Breakfast was substantial, more than we could take in. (You can ask for a pot of tea, instead of a cup.) They arranged for a tuk-tuk driver, Sagath, to take us around to the sites, and we highly recommend him. A careful driver who speaks some English and is pleasant and easy to work with. As well, his tuk-tuk was nice and clean! There are two buffet restaurants within walking distance of this guesthouse, but I don’t recommend them. I do recommend the dinner offered at Hotel Salini, about 10-minute walk from Yellow Birds. While more costly than the buffet restaurants, they offer delicious curries with about 8 side dishes (must try: lotus root salad) and ice-cold beer in a nice setting.

The room we were in could use repainting, as the walls were a bit scruffy. The WiFi in the room wasn't great, but it is good in the dinning area. Limited English language, but that wasn’t a problem for us.
