Monte Varginhas Porto Covo

Very cozy and the most beautiful view! Also the fireplace was a big highlight.

The heating wasn’t enough for the room so it was cold during the night.

Location was very good

Roadway to property was very poor, could have a better surface and also a meet and greet Person on site

idyllic location… if you have a car.

1) only way to get to the property from Porto Covo town center is by foot (unless you drove here) on a very unpleasant walk on the side of a highway with a narrow shoulder with lots of semis and Big buses zooming by. It is a 3.5 mile (1 hour 15 minute walk). no taxis or public transit available. do not use the walking directions Google maps provides. it is NOT an accessible park! must use the driving directions through M554. 2) sheets were damp and very stinky, like wet laundry that was left in the washer for too long. 3) cold in the room and the space heater did t provide any meaningful heat. 4) WiFi information was not available. 5) I don’t know if we had access to a shared space/living room with kitchen or what. there was a key in the door going to a different room but could not get the door to open. 6) nobody on site. we got to the place right after sunset (since the walking directions on Google maps was wrong and there was no way to get to the place easily, see #1, and took us 2 hours to get there) and there wasn’t a clear main entrance nor staff to welcome us so we walked around the property for about 10 minutes until we luckily found my name taped to one of the outdoor facing doors. there was a key left in the door. 7) no easy way to close the outdoor facing door from the inside. we had to put a chair against the door to keep it shut to keep the cold air out overnight. 8) no shampoo/body soap available. just hand soap. there were towels available however. 9) poor sound insulation. very loud when there are other guests moving about and talking. also loud dogs outside.

The booking experience was confusing and misleading - we thought we rented a whole apartment, but it turned out that there was only one room and one bed for two of us, and we shared kitchen facilities with other guests. The patio and the kitchen were not the cleanest. It smelled like someone had been smoking inside the kitchen. The dishwasher leaked all the water onto the kitchen floor, and we had to dry the floor ourselves and do the dishes by hand during the rest of the stay.

The rural location is incredible, the views stunning and the proximity to coast and town. Sunsets from here are unbeatable. It’s such a shame as with a little more attention to room cleaning, some new pillows/covers and an easy spruce up this place could be really amazing.

Dusty, musty and forgotten interior with barely an interaction by the owner. Needs a deep clean and some love basically.
