Good location. The owners of the hotel liked it. Met in the city and brought to the house by tuk-tuk. Helped with travel tips.

The owner is a family man and he’s always quite helpful — he puts great care into equipping the room with modern appliances, maintaining its hygiene and making your visit as easy as possible. It was a god send to have him showing me the medieval city on his tuk tuk on an almost 40C day. The garden around the family’s home is lovely — a cornucopia of fruits and spices.

We booked this homestay because of it's good rating and reviews as well as the closeness to the lake, the breakfast that's included, as well as for it being fairly close to ticket office for the Ancient City. The location is great, the room is big and it was very clean in difference to many other places we've stayed in Sri Lanka, and the area was very shaded by trees so the room didn't get too hot and we didn't need the A/C all the time and could use only the fan at night. For this price it was a very good deal to get A/C. Overall our stay was great and the family was friendly and welcoming. The daughter offered to go watch the sunset with us and when we returned from our hot visit to the Ancient City we got some nice lime water with salt and sugar on our return.

We didn't like that the owners son tried to sell us a very pricy dinner at the homestay. They wanted 1500 Lkr per person. We understood it's a huge dinner, but you don't even pay 1500 for two people in locals restaurants. We're sure it's a very delicious dinner but he didn't seem happy that we weren't interested and then tried to lower the price to 1300/person. Another negative aspect is the pillows and lack of blanket. The pillows are new and clean, but they are just too high. It was difficult to fall asleep on a very soft bed with pillows that high. This might not be the case for everyone. We all like different types of pillows but this was an issue for us. Being an A/C room it would be nice to with a quilt or warmer blanket. Tiny little thin sheets are just not enough when there's A/C. This isn't a unique aspect for this homestay only, but a pattern we've seen through out Sri Lanka. Last

the room was super clean with air condition er,the host was so welcome,we went to have drinks together and go by the lake,and very safe for solo female travellers,this day really made my trip so much more magical,everything was perfect,thanks to the arani family!!(oh and especially bigggg sri lanka breakfast included, i was so surprised

Very clean and big room with air-conditioning, fan and mosquito nets. Close to a few restaurants, they also cook dinner but we have not tried this time. Breakfast was good, omelettes, coconut roti, tea and srilankan sweets. You can park your car or scooter in the garden inside. The homestay is also very close to the ancient city ticket office. Super good value for the money.

The room was clean and spacious, great wifi and air conditioning! Location is very strategic to visit the ancient ruins, you can easily go there by foot. The accommodation is also super close to the lake where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets :) the family is very engaged and offers you lot of services. It’s not always clear if they are included in the price or extra though. Therefore we suggest to ask about it when offered something, just in case. Bike rental is available too.
