Ashi Guesthouse Chiangdao

I wish I could have stayed longer - this place truly felt peaceful. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, especially Aunty, who was so easygoing and kind. Their dogs and cats added so much charm to the stay! Just getting to hold Jaew, even briefly, was such a joy. And Cha Yen, the dog, actually ran up to us when we crossed paths near the guesthouse - turns out he was visiting a friend nearby! That little moment made the whole experience feel even more personal and connected. The guesthouse is beautifully surrounded by greenery, with lovely mountain views. With an on-site cafe, bar, and restaurant, it’s easy to just settle in and enjoy the terrace all day. The location is also great - within walking distance to several cafes and restaurants, and not too far from town. A short hike around the area is definitely worth it.

The only downside: I’d recommend avoiding the small double room next to the main building. It was overrun with ants so that I finally understood why such a wonderful place had a few negative reviews on Booking. Fortunately, the host managed to switch my room, and the rest of the stay was fine. Still, it was a frustrating start that could have been avoided.

The building has a large balcony space with the outlook to breathe-taking mountain view. There are several chairs, tables, and mattresses, plus electric fans, available in the communal space so it is very comfy to hang around outside your room. The staffs are friendly and the overall service is great.

Note that there's only an electric fan in the room (no AC) but I think it's enough to keep the room cool and comfy throughout the night in June. The wall is relatively thin so we can easily hear people from the other room, but I think it's not a big deal since guests keep etiquettes upon the guesthouse's request to be quite during the night. Overall it's just a minor point to keep in mind, but I think the location, scenery, and price point exceed all these minor issues.

La habitación estaba plagada de hormigas, literal que era un trastero convertido en habitación, un zulo. Tuvieron que venir a fumigar y aun así seguíamos teniendo hormigas en la cama y mosquitos. Por el precio que vale mejor buscar algo decente por la zona

Café and restaurant were excellent lovely coffees and delicious food catering for vegan and gluten free. Great set up for kitchen and washing machines and communal terrace area The owners were so lovely, kind and helpful and really loved spending time with them.

There were 3 cockroaches in the room The room is not sealed, and insects come in

.Overall, the property has a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There is convenient parking available, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. The property also features a café where guests can purchase beer, and Japanese dishes such as ramen are available. Massage and shabu-shabu services are offered as well, although reservations must be made at least one day in advance.

There are a few areas that could be improved. The room rate felt quite expensive considering it was the low season, especially since the rooms do not have AC. The cleanliness of the room was below expectations, and I unfortunately found a cockroach in the bathroom. Breakfast was quite basic, consisting mainly of stir-fried vegetables and instant coffee. It was acceptable but did not feel like good value for the price paid. Overall, it is a pleasant place with a nice atmosphere, convenient parking, and excellent staff service. However, improvements in cleanliness, breakfast quality, and pricing would make the experience much better.
