Cemara Beachfront Nusa Penida

Location is great! If quiet would rate much higher!

Too many dogs there, barking all day and night! When anyone unknown or guest! Up to 4/5 dogs!! Extended family with little children playground on premises, noisy! Also cheap local guests loud! Also keep their outside lights on all night, thus bright lights around and through curtains all night unless you go out and turn off! This includes Staff room, all night every night!! Also reduced parking for Motorbikes since last time there! No parking for Cars (don't stay there if you rent a car)!! Still water leaks, thus water pump on/off all the time!! Poorly maintained, water leak in system, still since last year!!! I used Ear plugs every night after first night and first time of 4 months in Indonesia!!! And hang my clothing over curtain to reduce the night light!!! Also owner has new habit of Playing card with friends/staff at the front table near coast until late, 2 out of 4 nights!!

This place is virtually derelict. The pool area is falling into the sea, the steps down to the beach should be condemned. The pool had more missing tiles than good ones. The bar/eating area is filthy and not open. I saw the owners throw the trash into the sea at high tide. There is a pack of noisy street dogs hang around Infront of accommodation, barking and welping all the time. They cock their legs up the furniture on your veranda, and the steps and pathways you walk to the pool area. They proudly switched on the 'Cemara beach' sign in the evening, each letter individually with a lightbulb, only 3 letters lit up. The resident family watched their little boy go to the toilet in the reception area and didn't bother to clean it up. Still there next day, urgh!. Now for the room. The shower was coming off the wall, electric cables for lighting and plug socket was hanging out of the wall exposing live wires. Mould growing everywhere, inside the wardrobes, walls(see photo), ceiling and especially where the ceiling consistently dropped every few seconds on the bed (see photo). When I told the guy at reception, he just shrugged his shoulders and said I'll tell the owner. It was obvious it had been like it for months, god knows what the mattress looked like underneath. The window was held shut with a 3" rusty nail. Lastly take a look at the photos I took of the pillows (without pillowcase) that really was the straw that broke the camels back. It's a shame the staff are not properly managed, they are lazy and need good practice training. They seem to sit around all day doing nothing. With a small amount of investment, just a proper clean would bring this failing place upto a 1*, a little bit of maintenance a 2* Quite clearly photos in listing are from 30 years ago, not a penny spent on this property since. I stayed for 1 night, 1 night too many.

Mid in the night a animals eas cross the ceiling And the shut stank from the toilet The room was also very dirty and the mirror was broken. This accommodation does not fulfil your expectations. I recommend dont book Here.

Nice location, comfy accomodations, very local style. Good value for the money. The family who runs the hotel is very kind and helpful!!!

The accomodation is by the beach, but it is not possible to swim or sunbath there. The accomodation is on small cliff with stairs to the water. The sea is just for the view from the porch.
