Location

It was in a disgraceful state of disrepair. The entry to the property is through a rubbish tip. The bathroom smelled of open sewer - with the tea and coffee next to the toilet. Everything was damp and old. Value for money was the worst i have ever experienced.

Location was so good. Right on the beach and in among some great beach bars and restaurants. It’s rustic but we wanted to be right on the beach and that’s what we got. They have a paddle board and kayak free to use. And water shoes which we found we needed due to the shells and rocks in the water. Santi was a great help. She booked us transport to and from the boat and a fantastic snorkelling tour. They sweep the paths to the rooms many times a day. The frangipane trees and decorations at the property are lovely.

The bathroom. The shower clogged when we were there and although Santi did her best to fix it there was a sewerage smell in the bathroom the whole time we were there. The floor and shower are concrete. It needs maintenance to sort out the blockage issues and smell and then it would be rustic and liveable. Tiles would be great but just no sewerage issues would be best. We knew we weren’t here for 5 star living.

Villa Pasir (we were in the beachfront Keylor room) was everything we'd hoped and more. We loved that is was ON the sand (say no more!) and within short walking distance to many, many lovely places to eat and drink. The view, as to be expected, was sensational. The room itself was incredibly comfortable (bed was SO good), homey and authentic, making it feel like we were actually welcomed with a warm familial Balinese embrace. Mama Acha and her team of staff were lovely and helpful and very accommodating to our needs and requests. Nothing was too much to ask and service was always with a smile. The open shower had excellent water pressure. The other facilities (mini fridge, airconditioner, beach lounges, wifi accessibility) all worked well and served their purpose. Don't expect luxury, but do expect that this accommodation with give you a feeling that you are connected to the heart and soul of the surrounds and its people. For us this is priceless and the slightly higher pricetag when compared to other nearby accommodations makes it totally worth it.

I actually can't think of anything specific that wouldn't make us return. Maybe some written instructions in a folder/simple guest manual would help to clarify things like wifi password, what to do if the airconditioner doesn't work, local recommendations (i.e. local delicacies and traditions to observe, best beaches and how to get there, warungs etc), what services we can access (i.e. scooter hire, laundry service, snorkling and prices etc), use of shared facilities within the complex and so on.

To open the front door and be on the beach was unbelievable. Restaurants and bars all around us was very convenient to try different places. Muma acha was so helpful organising an island tour as well as a snorkeling trip where we were picked up at the front of the villa by the boat. Absolute 10/10 stay.

Nothing it was stunning

The location is perfect. Right on the beach and near restaurants. Having water shoes to borrow to navigate the coral in the water was a lovely touch.
