No air-conditioning in rooms

We really enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable room and bed with great patio. The owner is super nice. We ended up extending our stay.

Clean and comfortable

Poorly maintained and below acceptable standards. The shower curtain was mouldy, the towels were worn, and in my friend's room, there were ants, including a visible pile of ant debris. This accommodation does not meet basic expectations for cleanliness or guest comfort.

The location is great and I enjoyed having my own exit to the beach which was a very short walk. Robberg Beach 5 is amazing and I had a few excellent early morning runs on the beach.

My only communication received from the host from booking to arrival was one short email when I requested early check in and was declined. I completely understand as it is high season. I had no problem waiting from my arrival time of 10h00 in Plett until 14h00 to check in but was frustrated to arrive at 14h00 and only Tryness, the cleaner, was there. She tried her best to assist me but did not speak any english, was not aware of my booking and therefore was unsure of which room to allocate. I helped her identify the room by showing my reservation. The room I had booked (King) was completely stripped and she had not started cleaning (NOT HER FAULT). I was informed by the host later that afternoon that the couple who were in the room for, before me, were there for18 days and had requested a late check out. I am not sure what time they were allowed to check out but it is not great that it was so late that my room was not ready on at 14h00 and I did not receive any communication from the host that it would not be ready. As the bed was un-made I could see the mattress. This was definitely not in great shape with loads of stains and very very warn out on the one side. That definitely needs replacing. I had to take myself off for lunch while I waited for the host, who was running late from the golf course. I arrived back at 15h15 and was greeted by the host, who was friendly to me. He was however not pleased with another guest, who had arrived a little earlier than me, had complained to the host about a few issues in his room and was then sworn at and instructed by the host to leave. This left me feeling very uncomfortable for the remainder of my stay. I therefore only slept at this accommodation. I did not see or hear from the host again. I completely understand high season is exhausting but unfortunately this is the hospitality industry (and I know this because I work in the industry). The pictures advertised do not match the actual property
