This is a fantastic “hostel” style budget option. The shared guest kitchen functions well, and the proprietor provides regular feedback to be sure guests understand how to maintain the facilities so they remain in good working order for all. I really enjoyed spending time in the shared living room area.

Would recommend hand soap in bathrooms.

It’s not the cleanest place.

Even though it is a cheap questhouse, it is clean. Very authentic Japanese. Shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure. 100yen laundry was good. There was also a dryer for 300yen but I did not need it. All long stay guests (30+ days) have their own shelf at a separate refrigerator. There is snorkelling equipment (mask, tube and fins) for cheap rent. A large manga library was free to read but just beyond my Japanese skill level.

There are no european style electricity plugs, nor can you buy converters in Ishigaki. Bring your own converter or be prepared to purchase a Japanese charger in town. The toilets had some bugs and ants in it at night, and the seats are not modern, electrical ones like usually in Japan. No bidet, just (thin and bad) Japanese toilet paper.

location is pretty good

everything is drity, dusty and dingy, to be honest it doesn't seem like they clean the place at all.

The location is awesome! Very close to shops, restaurants and the ferry terminal.
