Henley-on-Thames Studio Apartment

Good location

Awesome Studio Apartment. Hosts were really good. Would definitely stay here again.

There were things to appreciate about this apartment - its proximity to town, the quiet road, & the dedicated parking space. In addition, Shahid was a friendly host who’d communicated swiftly in advance & kindly let us check-in an hour early, he showed us round the apartment on arrival, & I felt we could contact him if we had any questions or issues. My young daughter & I shared the big memory foam bed, & found it comfortable. The apartment is choc-a-bloc with complimentary items - toiletries, cooking oils & condiments, mini butters & jams, cleaning products, tea, coffee, kitchen roll, foil, sandwich bags, & more. This was thoughtful & generous of the hosts, & no doubt makes a big difference to some guests. Unfortunately, my partner suffered on the hard & uneven sofa bed that I don’t think is fit for purpose even with a mattress topper & an additional topper we borrowed from a relative (& he’s used to crashing out in uncomfortable hospital on-call rooms). We found the apartment smaller than it appeared in the photos &, once the sofa bed is down, it’s really cramped. Some of the furnishings & finishes are past their best to say the least (one of the heaters fell off the wall while we were staying, & the crumbling wall made it look as if this wasn’t the first time). As others have said, the bathroom is tiny & in need of a refurb, it’s really a bit unpleasant. The vertical blinds are showing wear and tear & leak light around the edges & between slats - it’s dark enough at night, but bright in the apartment by dawn. Some may find this a good value place to stay in expensive & beautiful Henley (particularly solo travellers or a couple who aren’t bothered about lack of space or affected by tired furnishings, fixtures & fittings), but overall it made for a challenging stay for us & we were glad to leave.
