In an ancient building located on the lively Calle Mayor in the heart of Alcalá de Henares one couldn’t ask for a better location. The room and bedding were clean with a decently comfortable mattress. Caterina, who greeted me with a cup of espresso upon arrival, is kind and helpful. There was no noise from outside. Lighting was adequate with Plenty of outlets available. When the radiators were turned on in the evening the room became cozy.

There was considerable noise in the morning from other guests (who evidently left the day before me because the last morning of my stay was much quieter). This due to a light well which conducted sounds and lights up to the room. The curtains weren’t quite up to the job of blocking the lights. Also the shower fixture fell apart and I had to be very careful withdrawing and inserting the hand sprayer.
