Ca na Mar: Charming House in the heart of Bunyola, Tramuntana

Beautiful house built of stone, with stunning view from a shady terrace on top.

The views from the top balcony were breathtaking.

we had a great stay, although only for 1 night. loved the old stone cottage, it’s an experience to stay in an old cottage like this. there is no parking close to the property and it was a tiny bit hard to find as it’s not on a road but rather on one of those old stairs with stone houses on either side. it was a hot day and the inside was cool and soothing. absolutely loved the courtyard and the roof terrace with the views and listening to the old church bell. the kitchen had everything we needed for our 1 night and beds were very comfortable, they were on 3 levels with steep stairs but easy to manage (one couch bed in basement but nice and bright, one double on ground level and 2 singles on first floor). the bathroom was lovely and clean. loved all the little features in the house, it felt like a very loved house and very cosy.

parking can be an issue but this is clearly explained when renting the place. there is a public car park quite a way away and uphill. I feel it’s more than 5 minutes away, like was described and I travelled with elderly parents who struggled a little with the uphill paths. we did find a car park closer to the house - street parking, very tight.

Excellent location for exploring the island. The house is in beautiful surroundings, well-maintained and has two terraces - one has a great view and the other can be used when the wind is blowing as it shields you wonderfully from it. The reception of the keys and the communication with the person in charge of the house were easy.

There is no dishwasher in the house, which can be a problem with 4 people. There is also no parking space (which we were warned about!) and it is extremely difficult to park in the area. We always found a space in the end, but quite far from the house.

Great location

It was so incredibly filthy and it stank terribly. It wouldn’t hurt to paint the walls and to update the house. It was outdated and we had to clean everything as it was sticky in quite disgusting.

The house itself is beautiful, the attention and communication were great.

The house was FILTHY, all the cupboards were full of stuff as though somebody actually lives there. We found a bloody bandaid in one of the drawers! The kitchen appliances were old, the oven was absolutely dirty as well, so were the fridge and refrigerator. The bath curtains were mouldy and yellow, most corners had spiderwebs and bugs in it (yes this is a house in the country, but we’ve seen cleaner places in the jungle). The mattresses were rather uncomfortable and old. There was a damp smell everywhere. If you’re coming with a car, beware that parking will be a tragedy. Unfortunately we would not recommend nor come back, which is a shame because the house has fantastic potential.
