Casa Gorreta

Amazing location with fantastic views, Outside terrace was wonderful. Lots of fresh oranges from their trees for juice in the morning. Also land was covered with purslane leaves for soup and salad. Bed very comfortable, kitchen great for making dinner every night. 2 minute drive down to the rockpool Maceta where we swam every day. Cooperativa nearby (recommended by owner) was fantastic for fruit/veg and all other stuff

The blender in the kitchen didn't have anything to put it onto to use - needs replacing

Lovely garden, with fresh mangos picked from the trees. When the gas for the shower rang up the lady in charge of supporting the property replaced it within 10 minutes.

No mention of "Casa Gorreta" anywhere (neither anywhere outside or inside). Only "1B" on the wall of the property. Owner only spoke spanish and we don't so couldn't communicate. It took an hour to find the place and get inside, only achieved after flagging down a passing local. Even inside we not 100% certain we were in the right place!

The house is very cosy and has really everything you might need. The garden and terrasse are just wonderful to enjoy diner and watch the sunset, or have a quite breakfast at dawnbreak (with the neighbour's peacocks...). Easy parking in front of the house. Very calm area. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The location is also excellent as you have nearby convenience shop at las Puntas (and quesadillas...), and you can easily drive either to the west side of El Hierro, up through Tigaday to the summits, or through the tunnel to Valverde. Distances are not enormous but still the roads are quite winding and it's good to be centrally located. Also very nice to enjoy a last dip in the charcos before sunset.

Nothing really... We liked everything.

It was not easy to find because of the ferry times and we arrived in the dark. Our sat-nav got us to Las Puntas but we found some wonderful local guys outside the supermarket who told us to follow them and they took us straight there. Not only that they phoned the owner who was there in a shot with the keys and showed us round. Brilliant. We loved it. Its hard to express what a lovely little house this is. Every single thing has been thought about very carefully and every comfort catered for. The gardens are lovely. We were enchanted by he flock of peacocks who came to visit our garden every morning. Fruit trees in the garden and the cactuses flowered while we were there. View of the fishing boats every night and pineapple fields all the way down to the sea. Oh it was wonderful. Quiet and peaceful but so close to lovely restaurants and with easy reach of anywhere you wish to go. We would go back like a shot. It helps to speak some Spanish.
