The space available

It was too old. Bathrooms were moldy ! Shower cubicles were old and badly needed maintenance. For a luxury home it was Bad as it was dirty in the oven and microwave. Pots and pans were badly stained and scratched. Handles of pots were broken and even dangerous - which I showed to the owner and he did not replace the broken pan nor did he apologise. I booked and paid in advance for a stay of 40 days with the intention of spending Christmas with my family. We travelled there from all corners of the world. It was impossible to prepare Christmas dinner. Even the heating broke down completely and the owner took a week to replace the system. I paid for a house that was suppose to house 10 people but my family is only 7. Yet, there was never enough warm water for showers let alone take a bath. I found out that the entire 5 bedroom and 4 bathroom house had ONLY ONE water tank which was in the laundry room. Insufficient! I feel I should be compensated ! We even left to go to other hotels when the heating broke down and members of my family left very early as they were uncomfortable

Located at the top of the hill, the views are stunning from the villa. It’s a beautiful property with so much character throughout. There are lovely landscaped grounds, a nice bbq and plenty of sun loungers for everyone. We loved table tennis table and all of the furniture is nicely positioned for socialising. There is plenty of space throughout and we loved that there were two fridges and several coffee machines of various types. It’s only a short drive to Palafrugell where you can buy everything you need. There are several supermarkets nearby and a big wine outlet too. Beaches nearby are stunning. It’s a really nice area to stay in. Overall, I would return in a heartbeat.

The beds were uncomfortable and in the master bedroom, which is a large room, there is only a king size bed which is not supportive at all - couples roll into each other. For a room that size, I would recommend upgrading to a super king with a much better base and premium supportive mattress. There was a fishy smell coming from the drains in the master bedroom that was so bad we had to use another bathroom. The Wi-Fi was never reliable enough to use for work calls or for streaming films. It would often cut out. We used a hotspot on our phones for most of the holiday. I would recommend upgrading the Wi-Fi and add good internet security as this is a property that families could rent for long periods of time and the adults could have a work-cation. The pool is not heated, which I imagine is fine in July/August, but in October was very cold and the kids couldn’t stay in for longer that five mins. It’s a shame as the weather in general was around 22-25c during the day.

The location is excellent with a gorgeous sea view over Palamos. Supermarkets and restaurants are only a short drive away. All the best beaches are within easy reach. The house is spacious with elegant furnishings, well-designed and clean. The kitchen/diner is huge and there is a vast amount of crockery and glasses. Plenty of towels, toilet paper and basic kitchen essentials. The outdoor space was charming with a huge beautiful covered dining area, moderate-size saline pool, ping pong table, badminton net and small lawn to the side of the house. The undercover parking was welcome as were the impressive front gates meaning we had no security worries. The garden is well-maintained and has some lovely flowering plants. Although there are other properties nearby there is a feeling of privacy as there is only one property on higher ground which was further away.

The plumbing needs serious attention - the toilet cisterns upstairs take an age to refill and the drain in the shower of master bedroom ensuite was almost completely blocked. The door of the freezer in the utility room is broken so if you want to use this fridge/freezer the freezer compartment ices up. The cooking pots/pans are well-used as is usual in holiday rentals so if you want to prepare anything other than basic meals bring your own equipment. There is a washing machine but no linen basket to carry wet washing outside to hang out.
