"Excellent cosy property with the dales on your doorstep"

8.0

Great location in a lovely village. Cottage is very cosy but more than enough space for 2 people. Great sized bathroom and bedrooms

The bedrooms could do with a lick of paint and as we were staying for two nights, it would have been handy to have 2 dishwasher tablets and basic amenities rather than 1.

"Pretty cottage in a great area"

9.0

Comfortable and convenient cottage on the outskirts of Long Preston. The cottage is situated on a main road with a bus stop almost outside, handy for trips to Skipton! We didn't use the train, but the station is about 15 minutes walk away. There are several large supermarkets in Skipton and a couple of smaller ones in Settle. There are many lovely walks in the surrounding area (check out the Where2Walk website). It was easy to park in the lane beside the house, although right turns could be a bit tricky owing to the busy nature of the road. The owner had provided earplugs for sleep, but we didn't need to use them - the road noise isn't very loud.

There was a lack of cooking pans - only one small lidless saucepan, which shared a single handle with the two frying pans (we had stuff boil over a couple of times while trying to switch handles). We just about coped as a couple, but you'd be hard pressed to feed a family of four from that tiny pan. A larger, lidded saucepan for pasta would be a great help. The stairs are steep and narrow, but that's a standard feature in buildings of that age. The living room area was very cold compared to the rest of the house (again a function of the building's age and layout) - once we discovered an oil-filled radiator in the under-stairs cupboard we were much more comfortable.

The location was good , with walks in the dales immediately behind the cottage.beds comfy. Lovely pub nearby

We had to call the owners on the first night as the key wouldn’t work . Several guests in the guest book had commented on it too. Stairs very steep if you are elderly . Very busy road ( a65) . Toilet was blocked on last morning . Bathroom sink was blocked so we bought sink unblocker. Needs some basic DIY for door , sink and toilet
