Bakestones - Central Location with Free Integral Private Parking

Bakestones is exceptionally quirky and full of charm. Lots of personal touches and information about local attractions and eateries. 100% recommend for a perfect base and stay in the Lake District.

It was perfect

Very central location with its own parking. Very clean from garage up to top bedroom. Very well equipped throughout and clear instructions for all appliances in handy files. Comfy sofas and chairs, and lots of quirky features.

Nothing not to like - only thing (not a criticism, as wasn’t a problem for us) is that there are a few very steep/deep steps down into the living room so if you are elderly or have mobility issues it may take a bit of negotiating.

Cozy and comfortable apartment right in the centre of Ambleside. Well furnished and modern fittings mixed with the old rustic charm of the building. Good sized bedrooms, really comfotable lounge area and good sized kitchen and dining area. Free parking in a private garage underneath the apartment.

It can be a bit tricky to get the car into and out of the garage, and the garage light seemed a bit temperamental in coming on. The restaurant next door was quite noisy at night but I think this was due to Christmas parties.

Bakehouse is a prime, central location in Ambleside, in the heart of the town, surrounded by restaurants and pubs plus all the local facilities on your doorstep. It is a quirky, historical property which is beautifully furnished and everything you need.

There was nothing we didn’t like! The only issue, although, but this did not affect our visit, is the cottage is not accessible for anyone with mobility issues climbing stairs. The nature of this quirky former bakery property means it has stairs leading up to the first level living quarters, steps dropping down into the living room, and steep stairs leading up to the top smaller bedroom. But this is unavoidable because of the very nature of the building. As the property welcomes dogs - which is highly commendable - perhaps a gate could be fixed to the bottom of the stairs leading up to the top bedroom, to block off dog access? It was not an issue for us, we just used a suitcase to block the stairs day, so found our own solution 😊

Loved the location, garage parking space was wonderful. We have a Paceman Mini, so it fitted in just fine with a little room to spare, but not sure if a larger car would fit. Very comfortable and clean. Would stay again.

Everything was great, the only mild criticism is that although the bed was very comfortable the pillows were not great and we had to raid some off the single bed, although they were not much better, maybe a few new ones are needed. Thanks.

Beautiful, quirky, and the bed was so comfy!

It had everything we needed and it was right in the heart of Ambleside and the benefit of an integral garage. No wonder visitors keep returning.

Great location with easy access to everything you need

Steps from the kitchen to the front room are possibly too steep for older people. Maybe an outside light about the garage door.

Great location. Good to have parking on site. Proper very clean and comfortable. Good living space.

We had some issues with a leaking shower, kitchen drain no towing and a leak in the roof. Company that looks after the property sent a maintenance guy to sort. It’s an old property so these things happen but these issues need some attention to completely resolve.
