Pilchards Cottage

This was a little gem. We loved the coziness of the cottage and that it was very well equipped. We started the mornings with a cup of coffee in the wide cushioned window sils, catching the first rays of the sun. When it was high tide we would walk our kayak to the water and paddle around in the estuary. With low tide we would have a nice stroll to Cellar's Beach, to swim and look for sea glass. Or we would walk to the little Coop, that became reachable with a low tide bridge, for groceries. There are 2 (3 with low tide...) pubs to choose from, all with their own great atmosphere and food. For children there is a beautiful park and playground to play in, only three minutes walking from the cottage. And this is only what's in the direct proximity. We loved Plymouth, Dartmouth, Salcombe, Mothcombe, Bantham and many other places around Noss Mayo. We were sad to have to leave this cosy retreat after just one week and hope to come back in the future.

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped with lots of essentials fir every day use.

The smoke detector went off when using the toaster, so one needs to turn on the extractor fan to full speed, although it still went off occasionally.

Beautiful cottage which is very well equipped. We loved Noss Mayo too. It's full of character, a charming village with two lovely pubs within walking distance. Perfect location for hiking or short walks.

There is no parking directly outside the cottage but it isn't a problem as there are plenty of places to park nearby.

Me and my family were delighted from the moment we opened the door to the cottage. a charming cottage perfectly prepared for our guests stay. I was surprised by fresh bread wrapped in a kitchen cloth something amazing, the hospitality of the owners and the community I was amazed. clean, comfortable beds, good quality products for washing hands, hair and body. A wonderfully equipped kitchen, a perfectly organized holiday home, everything you need to spend a stress-free holiday with your family. a unique place. thank you very much

Lacks adjacent parking but that’s not a major drawback because there is parking by the tennis courts about 200 yards away.

The property was situated right in the centre of Noss Mayo with access to the water for paddle-boarding / canoeing less than 2 minutes from the front door. The property was bigger than expected, which was nice, with plenty of room for a family. The twin bedroom was particularly well done, with a nice layout, perfect for our teenage daughter to hide away in and would also be good for 2 siblings with there being plenty of space to spread out in. The kitchen was very well stocked with a full set of cooking utensils, just a shame it was such a long way to a supermarket, but if we had been more organised we could have arranged for a supermarket delivery. There are 2 excellent pubs right on the doorstep.

As other reviewers have stated, parking in Noss Mayo can be a bit tricky and this property does not come with a private parking place, however this is stated in the property description and so we were expecting it. As we were in Noss Mayo in August, it could also be difficult finding a place to park in the car park by the tennis courts and on a couple of occasions, we were parked a good half a mile from the cottage. This is not a criticism of the property, but just something to be aware of.
