The Black Dog Cottage

We came for a relaxing weekend in February, there was plenty of logs, coal and kindling for the log burner and it kept us going for 2 nights, perfect! The property was clean, modern, warm, quiet and comfortable! Exactly what we needed for a child free break with friends!

The entire menu was great. From the breakfast to the burgers!!

Lovely self catering accommodation it really had everything we could need. Very well set out with comfy beds. The area is rural but with the owners pub next door it was nice to pop in for a drink before 8pm. We stayed for 2 nights but we would happily have stayed longer. The locals in the pub were nice to chat too. Really great place for visiting Furness Abbey and Piel Island.

The owners son was running the pub the week we were there. Some drinks were not available. He was really helpful and friendly. We did not met the owners but understand that they usually run Bed and breakfast rooms too and food on Friday. We were happy self catering but if you did want to eat out you would have to travel into Dalton.

The cottage is lovely. it has a well stocked kitchen with all the basic amenities, beautiful rooms, cosy outside area at the back and a huge lounge. The hosts are lovely people, very helpful and accommodating. The closest point for the lake cruise is about 30 mins drive, which is reasonable.

Nothing as such

Beautiful property, so well kept. Kitchen was self sufficient and they provided with oil, sugar, tea, coffee, three types of cereals and they also gave complimentary milk bottle. Very very sweet.But
