An old cottage updated to a very high standard. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Even the sofa bed was comfy!! Located in a very quiet street in the oldest part of Gainford village. A lovely rural feel to the location, with a field of sheep opposite the cottage, it was only a minute’s walk from the village green and a friendly village pub. Just 10 minutes drive to historic Barnard Castle and the amazing Bowes Museum.

Needed curtains on the patio doors as light from lamppost in adjacent street made it hard to get to sleep if using the sofa bed.

Fantastic place to stay, could not recommend it enough. The hosts were incredibly helpful with a request we had and the house has everything and more one could need. Comfy beds, amazing shower, very clean and some basic supplies made our short stay a great one.

Everything was perfect! We especially appreciated the breakfast box, wine and dog treats :) the whole house and location was lovely, the bathroom was particularly beautiful and the hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Will definitely return.
