Mr Ralphs Cottage

Very unique and characterful property. Charming location and very well maintained.

I’m very tall and it had lots of very low ceilings. But really this was part of its charm. Not a big problem for a short stay, but worth knowing.

Set in a lovely quiet area, very picturesque beautifully maintained and well decorated .extremely clean and tidy with everything you could want to hand.

The nature of the building means the bedroom / bathroom ceilings are a challenge as they are very low and sloping Stepping out of the shower I banged my head on the ceiling .. the bedroom was the same .. banging my head each time I tried to navigate the bedroom.. the room is slightly claustrophobic in as much as the window is actually level with the floor… it was particularly warm when we visited but it was also windy which meant we couldn’t have the window open during the night because the blind blew everywhere. The bed whilst beautifully dressed was like a billiard table , no movement in the mattress at all.. after three hours of looking at the ceiling tossing and turning I was forced to get up and go and sit downstairs for the rest of the night. My partner tossed and turned all night being extremely uncomfortable and with severe back ache the next day . The folks in Drake Cottage next door had the same issue with the beds and one lady said she’d spent the night on the sofa because it the bed was so uncomfortable . We decided to cut our visit short because of this… instead of two nights we left after one which was such a shame .. On arrival it looks idyllic and I definitely would go back if the bed situation was resolved . I did make the owners aware and was told no one had mentioned this before so I can’t see it being resolved .. just be aware if you do stay there you’re not likely to get any sleep 😩

Everything was excellent. Lovely cottage, great location for exploring the area.

Cottage was lovely ,it was really cosy ,had everything you needed for a comfortable stay ,loved the fenced garden for our dogs so we could let them out ,

Would have been good to have a later checkout so we could relax a little longer ,as the checkout was 10 am we felt it was a little early .

The very tight entrance to the car park, scary! But land rovers do fit through.
