"Utterly dreadful experience."

2.0

The only good thing was the hot tub. The rest was abysmal.

No milk (on a farm!). The bed nearly fell on me and the bed clothes (very old) were wedged so far down the back I could not free them. The only cooking facility was an air fryer with no instructions. This was not a "lodge", it was a glorified shed.

"Lovely little break. Very friendly host but over priced."

5.0

The host was so lovely, friendly and extremely helpful. The farm and surrounding areas were stunning. Dogs were so friendly. It was very quaint and quirky which is what we were looking for. Bedding and laundry was extremely clean and fresh and the host even let us borrow dressing gowns because we were using the hot tub across the road.

I feel it wasn’t worth the amount we paid for it. The hot tub was poor, half filled and had debris in. We were told the motor had gone and they had to find another one, but from previous reviews im it seems to be an occurring issue. Although, the host did allow us to use another upgraded hot tub as it wasn’t in use. Little touches such as the bbq and fire pit could have been cleaned out from previous use. The plant pots and planters around the hut were unkept and full of weeds, having some flowers/shrubs in there would have made a huge difference or failing that not having them at all. I think having a welcome leaflet would definitely help, they did have one but without information such as where to turn the hot water on (we found it under the sink) and where to leave your black rubbish bags when you leave. Although there was a really detailed explanation on where to leave your laundry and the food waste which was good. I just think if the little things were sorted and there was a welcome pack like most places have, plus just general overall TLC, it would have been worth the price.

Location was gorgeous, very nice walks in the area

The actual property was great I really enjoyed it, only issue was the hot tub was hot on the first day and after that it never really heated up, granted the owners son had coke to help but it may have just been the cold weather, other than that

"avoid this property"

1.0

The Shepard’s hut unfortunately doesn’t live up to the photos. There is no curtain above the dinette. The fridge is nearly tipping over every time we open the door. The fridge is also white in the picture the fridge in the shepards hut was black & severely scratched. The sink tap is so loose and the general cleanliness was not up to standard. We found black hairs in the bed, the bathroom door was dirty, the skirting boards in the bathroom are dirty. The tv didn’t work & the wifi password we was given & the one on the sheet were both incorrect. (We we’re also given a welcome sheet from the totally wrong property) We’ve also didn’t manage to get any hot water out of the sink tap. The hot tub was also very dirty on arrival and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. I don’t like to complain but for the price we paid we feel really let down. We contacted booking.com to put in a complaint & the owner of the hut. The owner of the hut was very rude in her first message. We did use the hot tub for around 10 mins & cooked on OUR OWN disposable bbq we were only at the property for a couple of hours before Ieaving and having to pay out again for a hotel. We contacted the property owner and she was well aware of the problems with the hut but just couldn’t be bothered to fix them before we arrived. I was told ‘the sink only needs a spanner’ ‘the fridge just needed a little wedge’, which proves they were well aware of the issues but just chose to ignore them. When I asked for a 75% refund which I think is more than fair considering we didn’t even sleep at the property I was ignored. I have gave them a lot of time in the hope they might do the decent thing and respond to my message and issue a refund but still 2 months later I have received nothing. Avoid at all costs
