Totters townhouse

Bob and Henry are exceptional hosts. The townhouse is gorgeous, located just inside the castle walls. It has everything you could imagine needing or wanting. Bob and Henry provided a lovely basket of breakfast goodies; eggs, croissants, cereals, juice. We loved our time there and only wished we could have stayed longer .

Nothing

Nothing- it was a dreadful experience. The host - Bob - demonstrated no consideration for guest welfare throughout the experience. It started last Saturday morning. I received a call from him. He was "just checking there was only one guest" but he sounded manic. It was minutiae- id booked for 1 guest, so choosing to call me was completely unecessary, inconsiderate and inappropriate. The red flags were out. I immediately looked to cancel the booking and stay elsewhere. Unfortunately, id paid in full upfront and it was non refundable. Next, on the day of the booking he called me whilst I was at work, asking what time I would be checking in. Again he sounded manic. I didnt know, and his response was to say how he was wanting to go out and enjoy his evening. Completely unprofessional of him. I smoothed it over and he hid a key for me. When I drove to the accommodation, the road it is on was closed to traffic. It was striking that he had failed to even mention this. Consistent with his total lack of consideration for his guest.

When I eventually found the place, I wasn't sure where to park. I checked the booking confirmation, which provided no detail of parking. So I googled, and saw that he had advertised the accommodation as having "free accessible parking". He had already advised he has the hostel across the road, which had a parking space. So i figured that was the free accessible parking, parked there, and went for dinner with colleagues. When I left the restaurant I saw i had 10 missed calls from Crazy Bob. Crikey, I wondered if the place had been burgled, or was on fire. I immediately called him back. He answered in an absolute frenzy. "Is that your car in the parking space?" He asked me, frantically. I confirmed it was. "I need you to move it, my wife is coming back shortly and its our space" 10 missed calls. About a parking space. I mean, really? I explained my previous decision making process to him and asked, where is the free accessible parking? ""Pffffft... come here and move your car and I'll tell you where the parking is" "Hang on a minute" i said. "I've asked you where the parking is. The answer isn't "pfffft... I'll tell you when you come and move it, where is it?" "I've emailed you instructions on where to park" "OK but will you tell me where it is?" "Come and move the car. My wife is back shortly and she's had a long day at work." I hung up and blocked him as he clearly wasnt stable, and went and looked for somewhere to park. Moved my car. Checked my phone again... 9 more missed calls. He then emailed me. If you want a place with a host who is at ease with harassing paying guests, you're in luck. Otherwise, avoid Bob, stay away from here, and stay safe.

Hosts were great and couldn’t do enough for us. Great location.

The house has all the facilities you need to feel at home,it's spotless and very luminous.Hidden gem.

So close to everything! Near the castle, near the water, near the Sherpa bus stop.

Fantastic location, very nicely renovated and tastefully furnished. Really nice breakfast basket. Great comms from the hosts. Would highly recommend!!

Amazing breakfast basket- everything we could’ve needed! Perfect! Great selection of DVDs for adults and children. Beds were very comfy. The games were a lovely surprise and we played several of them in the evening before bed. Lovely toiletries- brand names. The host gave me a ring to ask of an ETA in order to arrange a safe place for keys to be left. The hosts had thought of everything, thank you very much.

Not the property or owner’s fault, but there was a very early wake up call from the road sweeper and then bin collectors and then workmen outside carrying out work on a nearby property- very loud and their lorry was blocking the road so we were unable to bring the car outside to load when checking out- tricky with suitcases and 3 children. That was the only downside we experienced
