Sunnyside House

Very comfortable accommodation and well equipped. Lovely view over the bay from the main kitchen /dining room which is such a welcoming place after days out or walks in the village.

There is nothing not to like ……if I was being finicky I think possibly the staircase would benefit from a handrail and a radio in the kitchen would have been nice …..if I come again I’ll bring one ! (a radio not a handrail 😄)

Been to Gardenstown often and this is now our favourite of all. Superb views from breakfast/dining table. Parking at cottage is a bonus as it's usually hard to get a free space.. log burner which to be honest we didn't really need as cottage is lovely and cosy but we did use it a couple of times. Novelty. Couple of low entry doors and lights upstairs but nothing untoward. Had a great week.

We liked the view both from the dining room/kitchen and balcony. There was unfortunately an old tin shed opposite which slightly obscured the view!! Sitting on the balcony was pleasant but there is a road in front of the property and a continual stream of traffic passing beneath the walls of the cottage but, Gardenstown is a village on a steep hill and everyone is going down to the harbour!

There were several things wrong. When we arrived we found the floor in the sitting room had lifted (about 6 inches in places) and could have been dangerous for someone to trip up - when we contacted the cleaners she told us this had been ongoing for 6 weeks and had been reported to the owner 6 weeks ago. Nothing had been done and we were not notified that something was wrong with the property. The balustrade at the top of the stairs was loose and dangerous if someone used it, so if my daughter or I (I am 86 years old but fit and active) had grabbed them to steady ourselves they would have come away from their fitting and we would have fallen down the wooden stairs. Also there were no bannisters/grab rail going up the stairs so nothing to hang on to. No fire extinguishers/blanket. The side of the bath was broken and flapping around although both bathrooms were renovated. In general the cottage had great potential with splendid views, the bedrooms were tiny but beds comfortable, the sitting room was pleasant with leather sofas and the living room/kitchen light and airy with dishwasher, washing machine and oven/hob but no frying pan or small saucepans! Plenty of china and cutlery. The tin shed would be difficult to remove as it was outside the property, but the other faults could easily be dealt with!

Stunning scenery.Absolutely perfect a.nd idyllic location.Private parking at the property was a game changed as there is very little parking in the village.House had everything we could have possibly asked for.

Only thing we didn't like was having to come home.
