Pheasant Cottage

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage and would thoroughly recommend it. The cottage itself was perfect for our young family and our dog. The enclosed space at the back was a huge plus. Being able to let our puppy out safely, knowing it was fully secure, gave us real peace of mind. The hot tub deserves a special mention. Despite some previous reviews suggesting otherwise, ours was fully set up and ready to use when we arrived. Sitting in the hot tub under clear December skies, with the moon and stars above, was genuinely magical and one of those moments our family will never forget. Inside, the cottage is beautifully done. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the design and details. Yes, there is some wear and tear, but given how often properties like this are used, and how little care some guests show, that is to be expected. It certainly did not detract from our stay, and I think it is important others take those comments with a pinch of salt. The owner was excellent. Friendly, responsive, and on hand if we needed anything at all. The location is ideal, tucked perfectly between Dunkeld and Pitlochry. It is a wonderful base for relaxing, with great nearby walks and plenty of wildlife. One morning we watched three deer stroll through the surrounding fields, and there were birds of prey circling overhead. Beautiful and peaceful. All in all, a brilliant stay. We would happily return.

There was nothing we actively disliked. Any minor wear and tear is normal for a well-used holiday cottage and didn’t affect our stay.

We had issues with filling the hot tub in that after sometime I realized the water was coming out of a pipe onto the grass, we discovered the pipe to empty was still turned on therefore took sometime to refill due to this issue. Noone returned my call when I left a message. No coals for BBQ

Unfortunately although the previous guests had left a review about the issue with the hot tub this had not been addressed by the owners a few days later when we arrived. Due to the combination of needing to refill the hot tub on arrival, the lack of an operating manual for the hot tub settings as the arrival notes only provided initial instructions but no instructions if things don't work, (the owner realised that the settings were incorrect the day after we arrived so we already lost 24 hours use) and the fact that it takes 24 hours for the hot tub to heat it wasn't until day 3, the last day of our stay that we had use of this. As it was a friends birthday celebration the hot tub requirement was one of the top reasons we had chosen Pheasant Cottage.

The location is beautiful, the house is stunning and has everything you need. We had a wonderful, chilled weekend which is just what we were looking for.

We had to fill the hot tub ourselves which was no problem at all as we were given clear instructions but unfortunately it took until the next morning to reach temperature so we were unable to use it the first day.

Beautifully presented. Spacious open plan living / dining / kitchen area. Master bedroom with ensuite is lovely, with doors into garden / hot tub.
