Dormie Cottage, lovely bright and spacious bungalow with wood fire

Code was wrong on the Booking.com info email but the admin contact no person was able to help quite quickly.

Spacious and very clean, well stocked with everything you need, good location, bonus having two bathrooms. Lovely cottage.

Ballater is a lovely place, and this cottage is in a peaceful location. There is also plenty of parking on the large drive. The cottage makes a great base from which to explore the local area. The cottage is spacious, and we loved that dogs are welcome. We would highly recommend a meal at the Fish Shop, which was recently opened by Queen Camilla and is fantastic.

A couple of things that could be improved are: - the gate is not secure, which makes the garden unsafe for dog guests. It was constantly blowing open in the wind, and it wasn't very relaxing to keep worrying about the dogs getting onto the road (they were supervised at all times, but it was still a worry). - the shower in the main bathroom does not match the standard of the rest of the property. It really needs a revamp and to be kept clean to prevent it from having dirty/mouldy grouting. - the kitchen was missing a few things such as salt and cooking oil, and we would have liked soup bowls and a few other bits and pieces to make cooking meals easier.

We came planning to go walking and to see the local area. But we were so comfy in this private, convenient, spacious cottage that we had a pyjama day. I think that says it all really. We got the washing done and dried it in the garden, went out in the evening for dinner and that was it. Left feeling completely calm and refreshed. Lovely. The photos don't do it justice - this is a home in the back of a pretty garden with secure parking inside a gate and wall.

Ballater is expensive, and market rates apply to Dormie Cottage. But it was worth it.

Very cosy, well equipped and very clean cottage in the perfect location for a few days break to relax and explore the stunning area. Very peaceful and also within walking distance to local shops/ cafe’s.

The outside gates were difficult to manoeuvre ie there was a pull up/down metal rod to hold them into the gravel which wasn’t the easiest

We have stayed here a few times, it being my husband’s first family home. We love the area, off road parking. Away from the road. Love the open fire.

My daughter slept on the sofa bed this time with the two toppers and a quilt underneath as it is not the most comfortable of sofa beds.

I was able to key in the number for the keybox but found the release key too small and it was difficult getting the key out.

The kitchen items were adequate but there were no salt and pepper or cooking oil
