"Disappointing for the money"

3.0

No mention of the steep gravel steps from car park to house, was with person who had mobility problems we wdnt have booked if the ad had mentioned this we had to leave suit case in the car and decant small amounts Accessibility statement only mentioned stairs to upper floor . The climb was quite disconcerting for someone with limited ability without warning . Received splinter from rough garden hand rail Garden overgrown and not maintained, brambles across the narrow driveway entrance, entrance path steep, overgrown and slippery with poor lighting Dirty windows Back door unlocked on arrival No hot water for first 24 hrs, then fixed but this should have been tested before we arrived. Very basic bed linen - one flat pillow per bed, pillows and duvets need replacing. Covers were cheap poly cotton Double bedroom bathroom smelly poss due to rotten mouldy bath panel . Litter, old water tank and plastic box in parking area, broken trellis around car park area. No black bin. Old satellite dish lying beside house, ladder lying on ground behind house Litter on grass at front of house Tatty interior - needs a coat of paint I expected more for the money, ie better towels and linen, some milk and tea bags. No firewood was present either so we couldn’t use log burner. Most of the issues mentioned seem to be repetitive issues that others have raised , given lack of care to the property it is seriously overpriced as a rental . The Uig Hotel half a mile away would have been better value for money, more pleasant with hot water and where I wish we’d stayed. So disappointed.

"Beautiful stay in the Scottish Highlands! Rugged nature, but all the comforts of a well appointed home."

8.0

The windows and views were amazing! I liked that I didn’t have to pay for parking. It was conveniently located to all we wanted to do in Isle of Skye. Especially loved the proximity to the Fairy Glen!

Our bed was too squishy. We were missing some keys to doors so we couldn’t lock up securely each night, but let’s be honest, who was going to break in? The sheep!? Not a huge concern. We still felt safe.

"Good"

6.0

The views and location were great. Beds were comfortable and linens and towels were clean. A pine marten came to the door which was wonderful to see. The utility room was a great feature and everything in it worked well.

The access to the property is difficult for less mobile people. The steep steps up the door are tricky to navigate especially with heavy luggage. The handrail is rough wood and broken in places so if you grabbed it when falling you would get splinters. The path is also overgrown and the trees and bushes need trimming back. The access to the drive is narrow, not helped by a car always being parked opposite the end of it making it difficult to turn. The inside of the windows were filthy dirty and covered in face and hand prints. I understand that it is difficult to keep the outside of the windows clean due to the constant battering by the weather, however there is no excuse for the insides. The blinds in one en suite were very mouldy and the bedroom had a strange smell. The kitchen sides are very sticky, possibly a varnish issue. The edges of the hob were not very clean. One wooden chair was broken. Christmas table cloth being used in October. Considering that the property has the latest check in time of anywhere we have stayed, there should be ample time for the cleaning to be done to a high standard. We would not stay here again.

"Great location, wonderful view, just need to sort out the heating timers"

7.0

Great location and view

Heating and hot water was on a timer that did always turn on, hence 2 cold showers and some days could not the house. No firewood supplied as per guide folder. Rang and emailed for assistance - no response, disappointing

"We loved rhe isle of Skye and having a place to relax in the evenings!"

10.0

It was very spacious so we had plenty of room for our extended family of four. It was also helpful to be able to do laundry as we had been traveling around Scotland for two weeks.

All was great

"Lovely area, lovely house but accessibity limited for our age group."

7.0

Views were fabulous and place was very clean.

It was not easy to find as gate open and no sign viewable. It is a lovely place but needs some tlc especially to kitchen work surfaces. Kitchen needed a few more things - jug, whisk etc. I did not expect the climb up to the house (especially with heavy luggage) to be so steep and the step surfaces need relaying and the broken lights should be replaced. There needs to be more emphasis in advertising on limited accessibility for older or less able people.
