Host & Stay - Railman's Rest

Location amazing although the wee hilly roads nearly killed me lol. The house was amazing.. home from home. decorated beautiful with everything you needed was supplied. warm friendly bed comfy we had a special trip to whitby fabulous unexpected gift of tea coffee sugar milk cake and biscuits on arrival. this just made everyone smile so much and was truly grateful .. thank you ever so much Railmans Rest. Will absolutely book again

Nothing really everything was amazing. Maybe a down stairs loo might be helpful when 6 stayed. But in all fairness there was absolutely Nothing we didnt like about the home HOST AND STAY Was not happy with having to pay a non returnable waiver charge of £25 or £250 pounds deposit with a return of £240 giving £10 for administration. This I found to be a "Blackmail" situation as when I telephoned Host and Stay..to question this extra charge .. Got told I "will not get the keys to the property unles I did 1 or the other." !! I totally as have done for many years, pay a damage bond to be returned after a No damage Stay but this was a new way of collecting an extra £25 to a company we have already paid a fee to when booking. This comment has absolutely nothing to do with Railmans Rest communication and our stay at their property

From the moment we walked through the door it felt homley. There was everything u could possibly want from logs for the fire, to kitchen foil..... such a great place I have recommended already to people and we are looking to book again. The location was great and we managed to park both cars close.

Wasn't anything to dislike

A beautiful property, very comfortable. More than enough room for the four of us (2 adults and 19 and 17 year olds) and a dog. The property is 5 minute walk into Whitby so we didn’t need to drive anywhere. The kitchen is well stocked and the little touches such as milk, tea bags and chocolate biscuits were very welcome. The bedrooms are very spacious.

I cannot fault the house at all, except maybe an extra toilet but that’s just preference. If you’re coming and going a lot, that hill back up to the house is a killer on the 4th or 5th time! Kept us fit though!

It was so clean and everything you needed was there. even supplying cake biscuits, coffee tea. The location was amazing, opposite the chippy and a couple of doors away from the pub, so easy to find and lovely and quiet with a 10 minute walk into the heart of Whitby.

There was nothing to dislike.

Great location, property had everything we needed. Could get parked either on the road or round the corner.

Had to pay a £25 damage waiver, which wasn't made very clear. I've never had to pay this before and we've booked lots of cottages over the years, it's clearly used as a stealth tax. Certainly won't be staying anywhere managed by Host and Stay in the future.

Beautifully presented, 5 minute walk into the centre, was able to park on the street.
