The Cottar

The location is fantastic. The Cottar is a unique place I really enjoyed my stay there. The views up and down the sound are beautiful. If you like open water swimmling the water was so clear I could see marine life.

The location was gorgeous

The Cottar was a great find, I stayed there with my partner for 5 nights. A rustic, very authentic cottage right down by the water. It is decorated in very good taste and the views are breathtaking. All in all we consider ourselves lucky for having stayed at this beautiful accommodation as it made our trip to Skye even more memorable.

An exceptional place ! We have the chance to spend 5 nights there. The accommodation is really a museum piece with a very refined decoration. It is right next to the water with direct access to a beach. It's really a magical place. You can easily get caught up in the game and watch the animals in the water from your accommodation. Eoin (host) is an amazing person with whom we had great discussions. I hope you share a drink with him. The place is magical and we had an unforgettable experience. Probably the best accommodation I have stayed in in the last few years.

Nothing, everything was magic.

The location was amazing, right on the water’s edge, with constant beautiful sights from wildlife to the magical effects of the weather reflecting off the stunning landscape. We ate outside morning and evening for the six days we stayed. The cottage was warm and cosy. The open fire was lovely with an over generous supply of fire wood. The bed was very comfortable. The owner, who is a native of the area, obviously put his heart and soul into bringing the property back to it’s current standard and has tastefully decorated it along with lovely old photos and artefacts. It truly was a magical week and we cannot rate it highly enough. We wanted a quiet getaway for the week and we got that in spades. If it’s a Blackpool or Benidorm week you want this may not be for you. We have already booked our return visit at the end of the year. This place is a pure gem.

Our stay at the Cottar was wonderful. We felt warm and cosy and having a real fire really set the scene. The Cottar is set in a peaceful setting near the waters edge with fantastic views. The shower hot and steaming.. electric heaters for added warmth. Eoin the host is lovely and really made us feel welcome, even lighting the fire so we came in to a warm, cosy setting. Eoin has clearly made a big effort to keep the furniture in character to the Cottar. We would definetely stay at the Cottar again.
