"Brilliant comfortable stay in a stunning setting."

We had a wonderful time here at the Seahouse. Great facilities, a lovely house with very comfortable rooms. The accommodation is in a lovely residential area and is very peaceful. It has been decorated in a light maritime theme which is charming and tasteful. The house is fully equipped and spotlessly clean. We had cause to report a defect and this was easy to do with very helpful staff. Clear instructions given to gain access to the property. You have to walk for 20 mins to get to Portreath Village for any amenities and the beach. Good cafes and local pub, The Bassett Arms. Excellent menu and entertainment most nights. You may need to pre-book if dining especially in the high season. We also loved the food from the local Chinese take-away, prompt delivery and reasonable pricing. There is a small local convenience store for supplies, but we never found a souvenir shop which was a shame. It is easy to get around to most other towns cities in Cornwall via public transport, you can get trains from either Redruth or Cambourne, we had a lovely day in Penzance and were lucky enough to get to visit St Michaels Mount and the town of Marazion. We wish that we had a longer stay so we could visit other parts of Cornwall.

This has nothing to do with the property and is a comment on the local amenities and area in general. Be aware that if you arrive without the use of a car and going to walk to Portreath village, there are no pavements. The road is very dangerous with blind bends and speeding cars. The walk up and down is particularly steep. Make sure you have a torch. There are alternative routes and suggest you look at the guest manual for instructions. If you are going to use the bus service into Redruth there is a nearby bus stop. It will leave from the opposite side of the road, it will pass through Portreath on its way to Redruth. On the bus shelter side, the buses go via Cambourne. Buses during the week Mon-Sat are hourly and finish around 22.00 Sunday service finishes around 19.30. Be aware that they are every two hours after 18.00 during the week. I suggest consulting a timetable for bus route 49/48 for exact times. Please note that there are no taxi services that will service Portreath locally. They are all further afield in Redruth/Cambourne or Truro. so will not come out for just a short journey.
