loved the quirkiness of cottage and the complete peace and quiet

the only thing that worried me was the stairs if we had to get up in the night being of a certain age🤣

"A character cottage with huge potential."

7.0

This cottage certainly has character. The kitchen is well equipped. the view from the top garden is splendid, beautiful sunsets.. The walk up onto the hills from the cottage is just beautiful. communication from the owner was excellent and there was a kind welcome with tea/coffee and cakes. The upper dining/living room is the most pleasant room to sit in.

We knew the cottage accepted a pet, but the doggy/musty smell on arrival, especially in the living room was strong. We were warned that the shower emptied slowly, it's clearly been an issue for some time, but it's so slow that showering felt precarious. The shower unit is a high step up and there is no handrail, also the make shift plywood step is not Safe. It flipped! The cottage feels quite dated and in need of tlc as does the garden.

"Only for the young and fit"

6.0

Lovely cottage, great location, clean, but not spotless, comfortable beds, great views if your young and fit. Great pub within walking distance called the Windmill, great staff, lovely food and dog friendly. Lots of beaches to visit, but we found Minehead and Dunster beach the best and not far away from accommodation. You can drive or catch bus to most of the locations, there's also Dunster castle well worth a visit. At the top of the lane there are some lovely walks, but most of the uphill.

We were warned about the steep stairs up to bedrooms, but not the 26 concrete steps to the middle and top garden which are slippy when wet. Could not get tv to work on first night so we called the housekeeper as instructed, but she did not answer, so left a msg which she did not respond to either. The heating is on a timer, but not informed what times it is supposed to come on, so had to keep pressing the advance button. Was given the wrong WI-FI password, but we found the correct one on back of box. Parking was awful, carport only suitable for small car and parking at middle garden very tight to get in and out onto busy narrow lane. Shower was good, but drain kept blocking and overflowing. Cake and milk was a nice touch, but milk out of date, the day we arrived. Too warm in bedrooms even with windows open, but very draughty downstairs due to kitchen radiator not working. The garden furniture very tired and old. This property is not suitable for the old or young or anyone with any mobility issues.

"Warm and cosy cottage stay in a good location with great views. Some improved fittings and furnishings would bring this"

6.0

Cute from the outside with lovely views from garden. Inside retained some original features and had good amount of space. Good space for dogs outside. Nice location.

Some low quality furnishings and fittings like the chairs, shower, the fire had no kindling to burn the large logs. The outside had lots of accumulated wet leaves which meant the already quite slippy patio had to be negotiated with caution.
