"Good location and warm cozy property in the heart of Fishertown - perfect for Arts Festival visitors"

8.0

Perfect location for us, but good for many visitors to Nairn and ideal for the beach and other local facilities, would be an ideal place to stay if visiting Nairn for the annual Book and Arts Festival due to close proximity to the Artists' Studios, Arts Society and The Little Theatre whilst within easy walking distance from the High Street and Community and Arts Centre. The kitchen is small, but well-equipped, with a decent dishwasher, and a good selection of crockery (a simple thing, but one often overlooked in places we've stayed!) - some better knifes wouldn't go amiss, we did try having a steak for dinner one night, that wasn't a great idea! Overall, the property is comfortable, tastefully decorated, and a warm and cozy bolt hole in Nairn that was pleasant to return to each day even on a cold winter night.

There is a decent shower, but no bath which would be nice, but admittedly almost impossible to fit in the size of property. The staircase could be difficult for elderly guests or those with limited mobility, but was fine for us, just something we noted. The bed was reasonably comfortable, although slightly firm (but this is, again, a very personal thing - some people will love it!) One thing I did dislike was the use of the lowest cost non-matching harsh LED lighting everywhere. Everyone has moved to LED to save energy, which I understand (my own home is fully LED too) but the kitchen lamps were of different colours and brightnesses and there was noticeable flickering making them unusable for us. We always clean up after ourselves, and try to leave a property in a better condition than we found it - partially as it's the right and respectful thing to do, and also to make the cleaners' life a little easier at turnaround, the hoover wasn't great for doing this. It's also worth noting that the property is advertised as "pet friendly" but on reading the information pack within the property there are numerous restrictions imposed such as not allowing pets upstairs or insisting they are crated (the word used is 'cage') when left alone in the property. This is completely impractical for many pet owners, especially if a dog has not been crate-trained from a young age. Likewise some pets would have separation anxiety and expect to sleep in the same room as their owners.

Great to stay in Fishertown. Lovely spacious house well looked after and with everything we needed except a drying rack for laundry 😊

Noisy corner with traffic and foot traffic hard to sleep luckily closing windows blocked the noise

"Lovely little cottage, great location for the beach and splashpad."

Clean, comfortable, well appointed with everything you could need.

The shower was a bit feeble. Parking was tricky, but this was made clear in the booking information.

"Great Cottage with good facilities"

9.0

10/10 location. Very close to the golf courses and city centre as well. Martin was a great host, if we had any small issues, we could text him, and Martin would reply the same day with a solution. We booked again for next year!
