Flat was spacious and the bed was very comfortable, the garden was particularly charming.. Hosts were very helpful.

Weather was awful but can't blame that on anyone.

"Perfect place: spacious, elegant, comfy."

10.0

Very spacious, comfortable, cozy, and elegant too. We loved everything here. I also enjoyed the books, and there are nice paintings on the walls. The owners live next door, they totally respect your privacy, but they are there if you need them. The bedroom is very silent, no noises from the road in the flat except in the sitting room which directly faces the street. Parking was not a problem, there is a very spacious public parking just on the other side of the road (a bit confusing on the times indications, read them carefully on the signs, but everything was fine). The location is close to the city center for pubs and shops, and there are great birdwatching locations near by (the quay and caerlaverock). We noted this place down as: want to come back and stay more.

The bathroom was cold in the evening/night, but it was not a problem for us.

"Perfect for visiting friends in Dumfries."

9.0

We enjoyed the view of the beautiful garden and the abundant feathered visitors. Position is very handy for town and local supermarkets. The rooms were good size.

There was enough cutlery and crockery for two people, but we would have liked some extra because we entertained friends on one evening.

"Brilliant stay would reccommend."

10.0

Well equipped kitchen, everything could require. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Shower good, easy to get the right temperature clean and easy to use, Property very clean and not far to walk to town centre. Property is opposite a car park, which is free to use. Lovely back garden, peaceful watching the birds. Owners friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Cannot fault anything, lovely stay.

Liked everything.

Lovely, spacious accommodation, very conveniently located. Darling garden, delightful host! And a little peek of Robert Burns Mausoleum from the dining room window. I will definitely stay at Number 48 again when I am in Dumfries.

"A good location, but unexpectedly pricey for what it is"

7.0

The property is in a central location in Dumfries and easy to get to. It was very clean. And, as a self catering apartment, all that needed to work was working. A good range of kitchen equipment. There is a nice touch in the shower room where handles and a special chair are available for the shower, so seemed suitable for someone who had mobility problems.

There are a few things that I felt could be improved. It would be handy if there was an automatic light outside the front door to illuminate the key box (I arrived when it was dark, so it was hard to see the numbers on the key box). It is a large self-catering place, but the layout was unexpected - a moderate sized bedroom yet a huge dining area (in addition to the sitting room). The dining area seems unnecessarily large, given the bed/bedroom was for a couple (at the most). I was also wondering why the dining room was so large and the bathroom (shower, no bath) was so modest. It was nice to have a good sized mirror in the bedroom (not all self-catering places have this), but the mirror reflects a distorted image. There was some confusing information about putting the rubbish out (which the online message said should be done on departure, but the information folder (in the dining room) appeared to say that should not be done). I originally booked for three nights, but some time before my trip that changed, and only two nights were needed. There was no reduction in the cost as I was told that three nights cost the same as two - but it was not clear to me why that would be case. The owners seemed to have handed over the management of the property to a company, and it certainly felt I was dealing with a company (and all the terms and conditions that go with that), so I missed the personal touch that is provided by other self-catering properties I have stayed in while visiting Dumfries.
