Marsh View Cottage, Aldeburgh

The location was wonderful. We loved watching the tide come in over the mud flats and then retreating again. Loads of seabirds. Great walk from the property to a bird hide. Lovely to see a mermeration over the fields. Property was very well equipped and warm, which was great as we hit a cold spell.

No issues

Very comfortable beds with good quality linen. Cozy sitting room with log fire. Spacious bathroom with generous towel provision. Thoughtful and generous provision of shampoo etc. Neat and tidy garden with excellent parking provision. Very clean and well presented.

Domestic hot water supply was barely a trickle and needs boosting. Although not the fault of the owners the barking of the neighbours dog was intrusive especially at 5 am every day of the stay.

Lovely quiet, peaceful location with great walks on the doorstep.

Water pressure in shower could have been a bit stronger.

Location and views of the estuary. Access to other towns and villages in the area. The lounge. Dog friendliness - e.g. towels for paws.

Major issue was the dog next door who was in an outside shelter and barked almost continuously from early morning to late evening. It was loud, incessant and disturbing. We considered talking to the neighbours about it but decided that it wasn’t our call to do so. I suggest the owners consider doing so. Minor issues were - no kitchen roll, one dishwasher tab, one rubbish bag for the bin, one firelighter. Seemed somewhat stingy compared to other places we have stayed in.

The location was quiet with beautiful views. The owner communicated with us promptly and sent good directions for getting there and the cottage was very clean and well-equipped. We could park on the grounds and there were lovely walks close by, including into Aldeburgh itself. It is a great place for a relaxing, peaceful holiday but there are also plenty of interesting places to visit nearby.

The flush on the upstairs toilet is very loud so we tried not to use it during the night.
