The Old Fire Station

The location was good. Just a short walk in to Kelso and hear restaurants and places of interest

The list is huge. The property was described as a luxury home. It may have been at one time but from the moment we arrived and couldn’t find the entrance we had reservations. From dirty, full outside bins to old food from previous guests in the freezer our expectations hit rock bottom when we checked out the small downstairs bedroom in particular. The room was sparsely furnished with no bedside lamp. I had to purchase one myself to be able to read comfortably. On heading to bed later that evening I pulled back the quilt to discover that the bed obviously hadn’t been changed since the last guests had left. The sheet was disgusting, but on removing the bedding the protective cover was even more disgusting. I slept on bathroom towels with my coat over me. Despite numerous messages to the agency who manage the property I am still waiting for a response 2 weeks later. I had to buy my own bedding to be able to sleep there for the rest of my holiday. Luckily the rooms upstairs were decent which meant that my friend and her daughter were able to get a decent sleep. My friends daughter has special needs and found it very distressing when things like the toilet seat and toilet roll holder fell apart. Even the glass kettle in the kitchen could have done with a proper clean. All in all I have never been so disappointed in a home before. I am 60+ years of age and have stayed in accommodation across the U.K., Europe and America and have never had any need to write a bad review about a property but my disappointment at the Old Fire Station and the response (or lack of it) from Pillow Partners, even after numerous chances to respond to my concerns, has left me no choice. This property was not fit for our stay, over priced and had the cheek to charge us an additional £120 cleans fee.

No electric car charger facilities. No big mirror in bathroom upstairs

The kitchen equipment is rather sparse ie no jugs, dishwasher but no tablets provided, more pans and oven to tableware required and crockery we were a family of 5 and struggled with preparing a meal.

Very helpful on phone out of hours when calling to get key code. Clean tidy good accomadation.

Back door to property was very stiff to both unlock and lock. Front bedroom had road noise.
