Hexham Cottage by Coast & Country Stays

The cottage was decorated nicely and it’s spacious with 3 good size bedrooms, a good size lounge, kitchen and bathroom. There was a stair gate available for the top of the stairs. It’s in a really good location within walking distance of seahouses and near beautiful beaches.

The cottage was dirty. We arrived at 5pm and the cleaners were still there until 5.30pm. They were rushing and I don’t think they cleaned the kitchen at all. The drawers were dirty so we couldn’t unpack. During our stay, someone arrived at the cottage thinking they were staying there that night - this was an error by the hosts and they were understandably put out. The parking is a problem. There is no designated parking space, no permit provided and there are signs outside from neighbours claiming bits of the street (some of them for cottages not even on our street) and telling you not to park outside the cottage (though we had to anyway). There were no amenities - no soap, no washing up liquid, no cloth, kitchen roll holder but no kitchen roll and one toilet roll - we had to buy everything.

The cottage is in a great location, a short walk to the harbour, shops and restaurants. Set in a quiet back street with room for parking one car. The house is beautifully decorated with comfy beds, lovely bed linens and big fluffy towels. Books, games and DVDs are also provided.

We had a problem getting hot water, there needs to be clearer explanation around how to switch it on. The shower head slides down all the time, so frustrating when trying to wash your hair. The cottage is cold, even though it was warm outside. The electric radiators in the bedrooms weren’t working unfortunately. A minor issue but it was a pain, there wasn’t a tea towel in the kitchen. The welcome pack was poor and there was only one sachet of milk. Either a good one should be provided or none at all. The cottage would also benefit from new carpets in the bedrooms.

The Welcome pack could have contained more. There was only one sachet of milk for 5 people and parking is not ideal but we were told that.

Great location. Was very clean and comfortable.

Parking outside property not always available

Fantastic location in the heart of Seahouses. Two public houses at the end of the street and the main street and harbor less than 5 minutes walk. The property was great, nice and cosy with plenty of utensils and appliances. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were really comfy.

My only gripe was the shower, not great water pressure with the shower head was loose on the shower frame meaning it kept sliding down to waist height, so couldn't really stand under it without holding it up.

Location was excellent. Facilities in the house were excellent. All the information was good.

Parking the car it was difficult turning around and getting in and out of the road. Also there was no instructions for the log burner as stated on the information note
