sea view house was exceptionally well equipped. Barrie, the owner popped over to make sure all was well with the house. the situation of the house was perfect for a quiet break, but also close enough to get to the city centre.

Location was good.

The condition of the property is awful. We have used self catering for many years and have never experienced anything like it. Very surprised to find that most rooms had been painted black, which is an odd choice for self catering. The standard of finish is dreadful. Was surprised to not get any welcome instructions/info pack or welcome pack. When we arrived we were very disappointed to see the state of the kitchen, it was dirty and the kitchenware was beyond awful. At this point we didn't unload the car any further and started to search for alternative accommodation but couldn't find anything so we made contact with owner to complain. Owner acknowledged and sent his mum over to clean the kitchen. Linda, the Mum, acknowledged that the kitchen was dirty and apologised and agreement was made that we could go and buy plates, cutlery, tea towels, glasses, mugs. Although this was a positive response, it was not acceptable for us to be put into this situation when paying for accommodation. Was also very disappointed to learn that although the photos and description listed a washing machine there wasn't one as it had been removed. Instead of arriving in the property and enjoying our first night we had to wait for the kitchen to be cleaned and for the dishwasher to wash all the plates etc before we could use the kitchen so we really lost our first night and continued to debate about leaving the accomodation. Photos listed versus the actual house are quite different and sadly not for the better. The former white kitchen units have been painted black and look very grotty. The standard of finish throughout the property is awful. Downstairs WC - lightbulb hanging down, no lightstring to switch on light, door that would stick so you almost had to burst your way out, section of skirting/flooring missing besides sink. Upstairs bathroom - toilet seat broken, door wouldn't lock. Neither bathroom had sanitary bins.
