Castle Gate House Derry City Centre Townhouse

We have the whole house and it help us feel comfortable. The washing machine was helpful as it was raining when we arrive in derry. We’re able to cook as the kitchen utensils was complete enough.

Maybe just the bath towel, it wasn’t soft.

Lots of narrow stairs. Maybe better towels, but adequate. Tiny shower.

The location is perfect, right in the centre with plenty in walking distance. There were more bedrooms than we first thought, with two single rooms on the top floor, we assumed from the pictures that there was a room with two single beds in but this wasn’t the case when we got there. All utensils were available and the kitchen was well stocked. The house was clean and we would definitely stay again.

Something was wrong with electrics, when we tried to switch the washing machine on you could hear the plug socket sizzling and lights in other rooms would flicker. The tumble dryer didn’t work at all. There was no baking trays available so cooking in the oven was a bit difficult. I don’t think on street parking should be advertised, we drove over on the ferry so had a car and it was very difficult some days to get parked anywhere near. You can only park on one side of the street and it is packed and very tight. Considering this house can hold 4 adults and 2 children, or 6 adults, there is no where near enough seating space in the house, some people had to sit on the floor. The pool table is a bit pointless, it is so big that you struggle to be able to even use it, it would make more sense to get rid and have another reception room. The shower is broke and is hanging off the wall, it still works but it’s not ideal. A bath mat would be a good idea, slippy tiles in the bathroom with minimal towels is dangerous when trying to get children out of the bath. Some door handles are broken and doors dont close properly.

Location was so central and it was a very quiet area. As one of the family has a disability and poor mobility, it was great to have a disabled parking space across from the property how we found out in the 2nd day that this was not for the property snd was for one of the street residents

Not a criticism but the stairs in the house were problematic for my brother with the disability but we managed
