"Just what we all needed this Xmas to ensure a quiet stay with friends/family"

8.0

Very clean, cosy cottage in a quiet location. Very easy to communicate with the hosts and helpful neighbours. Was ideal for us to have a quiet break. Lovely area to explore and walk. Well stocked with toilet and kitchen essentials and easy to use appliances.

Flooring in living room in need of repair. perhaps a larger settee would be useful.

We had a great stay in the Miner's cottage. It had everything we needed for a long weekend visiting family nearby. Great little park directly across the street was a nice surprise, was able to play tennis one morning!

"We had a lovely comfortable stay and would recommend to those wanting a break away to enjoy the gorgeous hills and fores"

7.0

The property is lovely and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well equipped. The location is ideal for walking and the surrounding area of hills and forests is beautiful.

The sofa area could have maybe had a little bit more seating as there isn’t much room for everyone to sit down comfortably together.

"Cosy, comfortable and thoughtfully considered property for an autumn weekend mini break."

10.0

Our short break stay in this lovely home was very comfortable. It is beautifully presented throughout and had everything we needed. Of the bedrooms available, we used the two double rooms (one for us parents and the other for our teen). There were plenty of quality furnishings and we appreciated the little blanket throws that we could use with our dog for cuddles on the sofa. Situated in a residential street of terraced houses it was still a quiet space and the road outside was not noisy at all. It had a community park / tennis courts directly opposite with a lovely backdrop of the hills and trees in the valley. A short way along to the end of the road was also a ramblers footpath (handy for a dog walk). Also, just a few minutes drive down the road was the stunning 'Guardian of the Valley' sculpture which was a moving memorial to see. The location of the house was also great to visit Goytre Wharf on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (about 25 mins drive). There was also a large Tesco in Abertillery which had everything we needed. The local people we met and chatted with were very friendly.

So much to like rather than not! All we would say is that the wall heaters were a bit tricky to operate but we found the instructions and soon got them working to warm the place (other heaters were also available). And understandably the back terrace has steep steps (noted on the main feature page) to make the most of the available space. I would just recommend not walking up and down just after it has rained to avoid any slips. But these things didn't detract at all from what was a thoughtfully curated, beautiful home. Thank you to our hosts too who communicated clearly everything we needed to know.
